One Of Those Rare Moments...

I just had a rare moment where I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror...and saw me. This wasn't an early morning brush my teeth, brush my hair, apply chapstick glimpse, I saw myself in the moment. Kinda like if I were in a portrait. Sitting in my bed, the laptop balancing on my knees while I do research. My hair tied up in a towel after a much needed shower. I'm wearing my flashback to the fifties glasses and I have changed. I'm looking my age, and a little too tired at the moment. I look a little stressed. My forehead is crinkling. I'm spinning a pen in my fingers as I take myself in. I take a deep breath. If you ask me I'd say I could look better. Forty years down the road future me would probably say I look young right now and lucky. I may even say I didn't appreciate the 30ish year old me enough. I'm setting below a watercolor of flowers that I painted. Strange seeing myself by my own artwork. It's hanging crooked. I'm not going to fix it. I wonder if future me will remember myself the way I am right now. I hope so. Maybe I need to take the time to take a look at myself more often...

Cleaning In Neverland

My morning began taking care of our resident Royal. I played fairy godmother and helped princess Aurora dress and beautify. Then Jeff stepped in for me today. While I caught up on the castle cleaning drudgery, Jeff played my part in the daily presentation of Peter Pan. It was nice to have a day off to rest my acting muscles. I did notice that I am cast daily as some sort of villian while Jeff was given the lead role of Peter Pan. I must speak to my agent about this...
All in all it was a fine day in Neverland. Wendy, Peter and captain Fieldy Hook would fly by as I vacuumed. I heard lots of laughter from the playroom. Greta, I mean Wendy, would update me on their adventures while I cleaned. It was a good day. The house is clean. Some laundry is done and the kids had some special time with their daddy.

Thanks Before Turkey Day And A Birthday

First, I would like to say Happy Birthday to our blog. It will be 1 year old on the 27th. Only about a month younger than Fieldin. So blog you are now no longer an infant, you are a toddler.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I wanted to fit in one last day of blog thanks before we celebrate Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for:
Fieldin whipping me up an imaginary coffee this morning. He handed me the WHOLE play coffee pot so I must look like I needed it.
Miss Greta helping me make a pie.
the phone not ringing during naptime.
And that there was a naptime today.
That our snowperson still hasn't melted in the front yard.
A quiet morning of playing in the playroom with the kids and not having to run errands or do anything but play.
Watching the kids drum together.
Jeff....again. Love you.
Hearing Fieldin call himself "pudger".
Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Thankful Novemeber 22

We had to make an unexpected trip out of town and we're back, so I can resume my thankfulness:
I am Thankful for:
Not having to be in the car today.
The red box. Rent movies for the kids while buying a mocha and return them just about anywhere. Brilliant.
Email.
Fresh baked cookies
Jeff.
Being at home all day today.
It's the simple things isn't it......

Thankful November 19th

I know I said I would have pictures but I have been ignoring my camera for a bit...
Today I am thankful for:
Family
My two little ones. It's rough sometimes being a mom. Sometimes I want to cry, sometimes I get overwhelmed, sometimes they drive me crazy but it is at these times I realize how much I love these two. Nobody else could yell at me, sneeze in my face, wipe food on me, pee on me, keep me up all night and still get constant hugs and kisses from me. Am I right?
Date nights with Greta
Peppermint mochas.
That our poor fish moved when I tapped on its bowl...I was scared for a second.
All of you that read this. Thank you.

Thankful November 17th

Today I am thankful for :
Friends
Fieldin feeding himself. If I try to help he gives me "the look" and shakes his head "no" for 10 seconds. He is a scotchguard ad in the works so I may not be thankful for airborne food on my walls this time next week :)
The Muppets singing "we wish you a merry Christmas"
Knowing I have 13 more days to get our Advent Calendar in order.
Greta making holiday plans already"Mommy, you and I will decorate our Christmas trees, daddy and Fieldy can watch hockey" (I am sure they won't argue with that..)
3:30 today and then family night tonight.
The kids eating the steamed broccoli I gave them for lunch without any complaints.
I think that's it for now. Tomorrow I will get a picture or two up. It's always more fun to read with pictures :)

Some Thanks

Since it is that time of year, I thought I would say some thanks over the next week because I have a lot to be thankful for.
Today I am thankful for:
After visiting my neighbor and a good friend at the hospital this morning, they are both back to their homes tonight.
Hearing Fieldin say"happy' for the first time while playing in the sand. On the way home he said "happy baby".
That Jeff spent most of the day with us and that he was able to go watch Greta at her dance class.
Dissmore's. They started making peanut brittle for the holidays. Thank you again. :)
My house not smelling anymore, like a concert at the gorge, after I accidentally burned some bay leaves on my burner... it was horrible.
Greta being so good today. It was a loong, busy day and you did great, Greta.
A phone message left by a friend I haven't heard from for awhile.
I'd like to hear what you all are thankful for too.

Enjoying The First Snow Of The Year

We all enjoyed last nights snow this morning. Fieldin almost fell asleep being pulled around the neighborhood with Greta. Greta LOVED the sledding and is fearless. She has a knack for going fast and farther than anyone else. The baby even got in on the sledding, daddy started him off on the scary hill and he did just fine. Next year I am sure he will be speeding down hills all by himself. Hopefully the snow sticks around until tomorrow.

Friday the 13th

While one naps next to me ....
The other enjoys the FIRST snow of the year!(instead of napping) I LOVE the first snow. It started this afternoon, is so pretty and is covering the grass. Hello Snow!

The morning was full of cooking and a big tea party with Disney characters as guests. Greta made it pretty while Fieldin worked hard in the kitchen.

He was very busy making coffee, tea and microwaving play butter. His favorite thing right now is to play barista. We have a play coffee pot and lots of tea pots and he fills up coffee cups for us. I am guessing I may stop at the coffee shop a little too much because he pretty much knows how to make a good imaginary cup of joe...
and a morning message made from last nights snack.

November Portraits

Oh my! Can someone tell me when Greta started looking so grown up. Such confidence and attitude she has (and good shoe sense :)) It is hard to believe she is 4 years old in these pictures.
This girl is a inch away from being 4 feet tall at 4 years old....amazing.

Greta and her favorite buddy.

Fieldin at 13 month. Dressed for business...and FULL of mischief. It's all OVER his face..

New Things For The Second Child

Second Child= Hand Me Downs
That's just how it is. Since pink isn't his color, he does get new clothes. New clothes aren't too exciting since he is a boy and a baby. In his world, clothes are just something to cover with food, soak with water and slow him down on the hardwoods. He would do without them if he had it his way. The majority of his toys, dishes, baby gear were Miss Greta's so when he gets something new he gets pretty excited.... Today he got two new things that made him squeal.

A Thomas The Train inflatable ball pit. Balls were flying!!His favorite thing is crawling in and out of it.

The second..his new Toy Story snow boots. He has no idea that Toy Story is a movie or what it's all about. He just likes their pictures on his new snazzy boots. He loves them. He does good standing but he found crawling is a bit difficult..
Good for you buddy. Glad you enjoyed some new things.

Today

(Greta's thankful Book is done)
(Fieldin busy Cooking in his kitchen)

(Lots of Greta Turkey Art)
I kept the kids in today to try to rest them up. No errands or outdoor exploration. Just a quiet day at home. It didn't take long to realize NONE of us are very good with relaxing. The kids were cooped up, following me at my heels, getting into mischief, begging for playdates, etc. It's been a day of pandemonium. Forget relaxing. Relaxing is more work. Tomorrow we will get outdoors or all this "resting" is going to wipe me out....

Rainy Day Blues..Literally

So it turns out my baby boy shares my love of jazz and big band music. I am sure I have written before on how he loves to groove and dance. As of late, he really gets going when he hears jazz music and the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack. I spent some time this morning downloading some new rainy day tunes, a little Lionel Hampton, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby, because he is the man...Can't wait to share with Fieldin.
Of course Greta wasn't forgotten. She announced over breakfast this morning that she is now old enough to be a "Christmas Caroler Person"(neighbors watch out!) She then serenaded us with some Thomas the Train Christmas classics, Greta style. So for my girl, I downloaded another of my favorites, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Nothing better on a rainy day then a warm mug of tea, coffee and cocoa (In my case, all of them) and some good tunes. Family movie tonight is Peter Pan to remind us of Disneyworld. Maybe some movie night knitting for me... Happy Sunday everyone.

Saturday

Just noticed...my last post on this blog was number 200!! That is alot of droning on and on and on. :)
(New shirts so I don't get them mixed up)
(Fieldy watching the sunrise. He loves seeing the world out the window now)

This Saturday:
We drove 15 miles out of town for a good soy mocha and the kids favorite shortbread cookies.
I spent way too much time on the computer working on a project...blah..
I forgot to eat lunch some how so now I am eating a piece of pumpkin pie to make up for it.
I got some Christmas shopping done.
I actually plugged in the iron.
I wanted to spend more time with the kids...thank goodness for Sundays.
I didn't make any phone calls, even though I should have.
I enjoyed listening to the rain.
I finished all my laundry but not the dishes.
I am sad that the Cougs lost...again.
We drove the looong way home so the baby could sleep awhile longer. Poor guy has a cold.
I'm not sure if anyone fed the fish.
I remembered to take my vitamin.
I touched my knitting for a few minutes.
This Saturday is over.

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

This And That

Thought I would post a picture of us on Halloween. We missed everyone this year on Halloween. Wearing a costume in 90 degree weather just didn't feel the same...:)
We are getting back to normal schedule. The baby is cruising all over the place. Moving small furniture to the next piece of furniture so he can keep going. He has made himself a little walking course. He stands at the front window now looking at cars and trees, it reminds me so much of Greta a few years ago. So cute.
Miss Greta is in art project overload after being deprived during vacation. Our house is now covered in Thanksgiving turkey art.
If you'd like to see some of our vacation pics. Hit the flickr link on the right. Feel free to comment on them too!

Have a great weekend everyone!

13 Months

Pudger(as Greta calls him) is 13 months old! Here is what I know about Fieldy at 13 months:
People stop me everyday to comment on his extremely white curly hair, he stopped using a bottle 2 weeks after his first birthday(mommy and daddy don't miss cleaning them!), he stands and cruises around furniture and he is trying to walk and getting very close, He is still into everything!, yesterday he said "sister" while talking to Greta and she was so excited, he is fearless of theme park rides, the ocean, great danes and everything else, he likes prunes but chicken and anything cheesy is his favorite, he is fast, he has such a funny laugh...and cry, he growls and roars at animals, he still pretends he is a pirate, he is VERY attached to Jeff, he likes to color with crayons and cries if he sees other kids with crayons and he doesn't have any, "oh No!" is still his most used words, he still adores trees and Miss Greta, he likes to hold hands, he is a very good traveller and he likes his milk heated for 20 seconds.

Back From The Happiest Place On Earth....

(Miss Greta last Wednesday when she was Princess for A Day)
We are back from 11 days at Disneyworld and the heat of Florida! We had a very nice time but I have to say I was happy to put a scarf on late last night :) I am a West coaster for sure. Today Jeff heads back to work and we resume our normal schedule without puppets, spinning tea cups and all the magic. I will have more photos soon. Missed you all.
