Monday, Monday

Monday. Trying to convince Fieldin that the hood of his jacket would be much more effective if covering his his head..not his bottom. Of course he thinks this is hilarious and somehow we make it to school drop off early.

I spend alot of time in this car.. me being cheeky and realizing that forgetting to wear makeup has become a daily routine over the last few years, as well as not combing my hair. I should probably do something about this. If I do wear makeup, the kids think I am either leaving them to go back to the workworld or something major is happening,...  like going to a princess ball, and Greta wants to go.
 my co-pilot.
hmmmm... turnips. I am 36 and until this year, I had never tasted a parsnip, turnip or brussel sprout to my recollection. The verdict: looove brussel sprouts, will take or leave parsnips and roasted turnips aren't half bad. Three out of four of us liked them. I'm not pointing any fingers....ahem Greta.
 mini monet "painting" the fence.
I love when lilacs are in bloom.
If you look real close you can see my garlic!!! I have garlic and onions growing! woot woot.. We will see if slugs, bugs, rodents or birds beat me to them.
smart kitty, being incognito trying to catch a goldfinch.
 daily afterschool reading

anything with cornmeal and berries disappears fast around here, especially when the berry is a blackberry.

What I didn't get a photo of...Me trying to quiet the smoke alarms for a half hour while roasting vegies. All windows were open, books were waving.. they just didn't stop.
Fieldin still up and not close to sleepytime.
An errand to the post office and library. Me trying to drag the 25 lb bag of Greta's books to the return slot.
Paying bills.
On to Tuesday!!!

Fieldy-ism's

While smelling tulips:
" They smell beautiful, like cauliflower"

"I'm NOT a cutie! cuties are little oranges."

"I don't like Roberts. They are mean and rob things from houses."
checking the garage: "no Robert's out there!"

Trying to teach a standing Chompers to sit:
"Sit Chompers...or up..Sit!... or up...ok, then...good kitty.

"So... do I get a cookie, or what? or not? I don't want a cookie...but I am hungry....

I really need to write more of the Fieldy-isms down in a day. He's a crack up.

Sunday

Sunday: The weather has been nice here. Happy weather...yet I've been feeling a bit grey. There is no reasoning for it. Just down. I remind myself I am human and can't be cheery all the time. If I were there would be something quite wrong indeed. It will pass and I will be rocking out in my car soon once again. I haven't watched Pride and Prejudice numerous times so this greyness can't be too bad... Here is our Sunday. :)

toys... toys everywhere. This is good. A mess but a good mess. This mess means there is playing being done.
I love that Greta can read the Sunday comics to us over breakfast. She also likes to clip coupons.. Today she gave me an anti-aging coupon..hmmmm
The boys playing a quick game of monster jam. Fieldin's favorite.
 grocery shopping
hiking/trail running with the kids. I love being in the woods. I am starting to like to trail run. I dislike running in general. After years of running while young, my oldish body disapproves of pounding on pavement and I get bored. Put me in the woods and my feet take off and my mind follows. A nice break for awhile.

A Sunday frozen yogurt treat. This kids loads up.
While getting back into a routine of documenting our days, I have found I spend twice as much time cooking then I ever had and I enjoy it. We rarely eat out. We've been trying lots of new things. Without wheat and dairy in my world I have been replacing much of it with vegies. So far it has been a good adventure.
The little man with a buzzed head. Wearing an Aerosmith shirt and I bet he will never know who Aerosmith is. This may be good because the Wiggles scare him so I cannot imagine what Steven Tyler would do to him. Major nightmares people.

A Typical Saturday

I used to be very good at documenting our days, I've been missing it lately and doing my best to remember.
Today was a very typical, quiet and average day. A perfect day to me.
Learning to steer and second position.
nuzzling up to daddy and drawing.
 Greta writing thank you letters.
Cat nap. Fieldin was so tired today.
 working on breakfast.
Fieldin was here. No bran left,  just lots of rejected raisins laying around the table.
 morning joy.
waiting to be let out to explore.
Putting on a play for us.
The ever waiting and torment of the hummingbirds.
juice, corn chips and hummus snack.
tea party
The day was also full of playing store, lots of sleeping, backyard play, a quick errand, coffee, and researching more gluten free recipes.(after a couple of years of trial and error I think my food allergies are finally figured out!) Playing little pet shop toys and chores ignored except dishes and filling bird feeders. Tonight watching some old Harry Potter, if we can stay up late enough:)

Another Sport With A Helmet

Why oh Why.... The first time Greta was on a horse was when she turned three. It wasn't hard to tell that this was going to be one of those rare things she was a natural at. It is also terrifying for me to see her on a horse. A few years went by and what was a mommy to do. It was time to get her in the saddle again to see if anything has changed. It didn't. She was at ease with the horse. No fear. She sat with good positioning. No problem at a trot. She guided and the horse followed. She can't wait to go back to the stable. She has three more lessons.. and then I can breathe once again ;)

Birthday Girl

She was sooo ready to open her presents by the time school was out.

 Pinches to grow during class.
I cannot believe you are 7!
He likes the frosting, she likes the cake. A good pair.
Greta you said you had a great birthday. We took cookies for Gret's class to celebrate and had a quiet celebration at home. It was very nice. The cat kept biting through Greta's balloon ribbons so balloons kept floating to the ceiling. The cake was good..strawberry cream, her favorite. She loved her gifts. We got to spend special family time together. It was a great day.

Happy Birthday Greta!!!!!

When you were born, you weighed a little under 7 lbs. You were so tiny in my arms. You were healthy and happy. Such a good baby.

Today you are 7 years old. You almost reach my shoulders. You are still happy and healthy.. Such a wonderful girl.

Happy Birthday Sweetheart. You told me last night you want to stay 6. You loved being six and had such a great year. Seven will be just as good, love. Trust me.
Can't wait to celebrate your day.
We all love you so much.

Visit To The Easter Bunny

Getting an early peek at the Easter bunny
Waiting in line and very excited.
I'm starting to think we need a bigger bunny......:)
Picking out a treat... and below, Miss Greta posing for me. She wanted to wear the pink flower in her hair soooo bad to match her shoes :)

Making Mommy Happy

It isn't often I see these two dressed up anymore. Especially Fieldin, this is as dressed up as he gets. He is all

This picture is so them, Greta posing and Fieldin thinking" hmm, I'll just smell this flower" right as mommy takes their picture.
