A day In The Life

The day in the life of me.. the pictures of coarse are not in order.. but that’s ok. I head to work after Fieldin heads to before school band practice.
After work gret gets picked up from high school and goes to piano. Today I played with this cute little dog but turns out Greta was distracted by it. I decided that was her problem and kept playing with this cute puppy:)

Study buddies.. working on math after school and eating the rest of the popsicles:)

My humble greeting from the cat after I got home from work, I needed to stay after for a meeting so I was not home on time, so I was ignored.

Morning playtime in my class

Teaching the kids about x-rays.. it is the letter ‘x’ week

Early morning.. I’m just grabbing my coffee as Jeff and Greta head out the door. Tater is begging for treats.

Classroom robot. The kids love making these. I have the parts out for building this week.

Table jobs, projects and play as I greet the kids coming in after drop off

A few minutes of video games before a friend came over to play

Shape hunt at school. I had them hunt for oval shapes today to put in our shape museum

I’m always in the car.. after piano I dropped gret at home to change and eat and then back in the car to take her to pep band.

Our art project today. Make your own x-ray

Teacher Fieldin

Fieldin has the day off of school and I didn’t so he asked if he could come help in my class. He loves coming to my class! This is him chatting with the kids at snack time. Most of the kids were afraid of him at first. He is taller than the assistant teacher so they were afraid of “the man” he found if he got on his knees they weren’t as scared of him:( they kept telling me my son was big, tall, heavy( which meant tall)

By the end of the day they all loved him and were giving him hugs.

He brought in his bell set and taught the kids music.

Once he got down to their level they weren’t as scared of him. :)

Robotics State Competition

After many years of robotics and a couple trips to state herself, she wanted to pay it forward and volunteered at the tournament.

It is such a long day but here they are at their first presentation out of three.

Robot table time. Their robot did pretty well 2 out of three runs. Fieldin ran the robot last year at state so he let the others run it and he scored this year and was the one that could question the judges...

All the robot competitions were streamed live on youtube

Getting their medals

Working the kinks out on a practice table

It’s about a thirteen hour day for these kids with travel time..

Making one of the many trips back to the pit area

Handing out swag and thank you’s before opening ceremonies

Collecting Dust

This little blog looks as though it is collecting dust. No movement or change. That may be true to this   blank journal space but in real life it is the opposite. We get into routines and photos and thoughts are forgotten. As the kids get older it is harder to capture those moments let alone eat a meal together.
The eldest spends her days at high school thriving and has the GPA to show it. In her “spare” time she. Has piano and drum lessons as well as teaching piano herself. Her evenings are taken up with pep band, pit orchestra, mentoring robotics,  babysitting and volunteering. In the rare case she is home she studies, practices and cuddles her cat. When we do get to see her we call her “ the girl that sleeps upstairs and eats all our frozen burritos”.
Fieldin spends his time outside of school in band and also piano lessons. He is at robotics a couple times a week. When he is home he is creating, practicing or standing in the food pantry. He is outside playing and finding a pal to play with.
As for me I mentor Fieldin’s team and work with a very enthusiastic class this year that keeps me on my toes. I sometimes teach Sunday school and am a part time Uber driver to my kids. Chores and errands take over my time and I am trying to squeeze in some time for me.
Jeff works hard, helps me raise our rascals and is also their Uber driver and he keeps me sane.
There is a new season upon us. Teenagers and change. I just need to keep documenting these days....
