Around Here

Around here it is finally Spring Break. Life has been busy. Greta taught her first drum lesson. Her student is a 3rd grader and she loved it. She spent alot of time preparing. Now she is busy practicing for a District solo competition coming up next month.
This skirt is finally done! After a year. It is a double sided wrap around skirt with pockets. It has the pi symbol on it so she wore it for National Pie day. She just celebrates the other Pi...
It is March Madness time again and Greta is leading our all church bracket. She was pretty excited. I want to see this 11 year old girl go all the way!
Homework, and more homework these days. We are all ready for spring break. Fieldin has been sick with tummy issues for the first time in his life and doesn't like it. I told him throwing up for the first time at the age of 8 1/2 is quite an accomplishment! It has given him time to work on a moving lego tank with a bunch of extra lego pieces.
Spring is here. Bulbs are up. Easter is around the corner.

Volunteer Pet Readers

In the little time Greta has, she and Fieldin decided they wanted to become shelter pet readers. They went through an orientation and learned how to log their volunteer time and all the rules. So now they can officially read to the shelter pets at one of our local shelters. They are allowed to read to certain dogs, kittens, cats, bunnies etc. It is so good for the animals and the kids LOVE it.
Lil" man gets SOO excited about this but the problem is he wants to bring all the cats home. Here he is reading to a sweet cat...

 Greta reading to a bunny.
Both kids reading to kittens, they are so small and cute! They put the kittens to sleep.
I like this because I have to be with the kids at all times and I get to play with all these adorable animals as well. it is nice to see how many get adopted in even the short time we are there. For the animals that don't like to be moved into reading rooms, the kids can sit by their cages and read and talk to them. It is very heartwarming to see.

Around Here

Around here, life is full. Days fly by.
Greta is usually busy working, researching and studying. With her nose in her laptop or a book these days.
Greta's plant cell cookie. It was beautiful.
little man is still writing novels. He still loves his typewriter and loves working on the floor. When he is not doing this, his new found love is cartooning. He and I are so similar.
For the last couple months we've been dropping Greta off at OSU on Tuesdays to learn science from girls in the field.. She has learned astronomy, biochemistry, lazer cutting, about drones, computer programming etc.. She is all done and misses it. She also recently got her baby sitting certification and is now certified in CPR. She is a busy girl.
we bought Fieldin a DJ machine. You can only imagine how much he loves it.
My class. Only three months left in my first year teaching on my own. I have loved it. I am blessed. The year has blown by and I can't believe I will have to say goodbye to my class soon. :(
Mr. Fieldin is now reading Harry Potter. I found this beloved bear on his floor with a Harry Potter scar taped to his forehead, The Hogwarts gryffindor tie on and a Q-tip taped to his paw as his wand... Fieldin is a creative one...
my class again. We are enjoying an under the sea theme in class for part of the month and we are all enjoying it.
