30 Years In Debt Once Again.....

And extremely happy about it, indeed. Maybe not as happy as these two though. They are both ready to get all their toys unpacked pronto!
Greta and Fieldy in one of front windows
The first thing this little guy did was do his normal laps around the kitchen island. Luckily it met his approval. Now we officially start move # 2. I am going to try to get some of the kitchen moved tonight. The kids want to camp out there tonight, really badly.....

365 days

For a little over a month now I have been trying and mostly succeeding in taking a picture a day of our life for a year. At first thought, this seemed like an easy thing to do but it really isn't. While I'm living in a moment it is hard to remind myself to document it. This photo of Miss Greta is one of my favorites, because it shows many of her favorite things right now. She's all dressed and ready for ballet class, watching her favorite show..Scooby Doo, a Princess and the Frog book laying nearby, two shelves filled with her favorite games and legos. This photo is full of Greta's life at this moment, I know too well these favorite things will change quickly and that is life. I hope we will enjoy a year of "us" in photos many years from now or at least get a few laughs from them.
Speaking of life, our move will hopefully start taking place this Friday. Three more days..

Greta 16 months

White Curls Strewn Across The Floor

I finally did it. Today was Fieldin's first haircut. Greta has been defending him for months "HE is a boy, I AM a girl". It wasn't the strangers thinking he was a girl that brought on the haircut appt. Lately his hair has been a bit Einsteinish, sticking out in all directions and paired with his evil little laugh, it was quite a sight. So like any makeover, there is the sad looking before picture and the excited after shot. Take a look below:

16 mths. He knows something is going on....and not very happy about it.
The after shot. I keep seeing him out of the corner of my eye around the house and thinking"who is that kid?" He looks so grown up now.

Moral support. As long as he was holding someones hand and had Greta near by he was okay. His hair looks good from the back, but no more curls. :(
I made a post traumatic dinner of his favorite foods, purple potatoes and salmon. He is such a big boy. Since we moved a month and a half ago he has outgrown his sippy cups and now uses real big boy utensils. They both grow so fast!

Pink & Mud Look Good Together

Before I begin, I have an apology to make...Yes Jeff, I admit it, the kids get more dirty on my watch. There I said it.
Let me take you back a couple weeks when Jeff went out exploring with the kids. They came back beyond filthy. After a trip to the creek next to the house and playtime in the landscapers "hidden" pile of rock the kids were gross. I had to throw Greta's pants away and I'm pretty sure a pair of shoes were ruined. I gave Jeff an unjust hard time. "kids being kids" he said. "True" I said, but they only get this way on your watch... Well I must have forgotten a few of my "watches". A day of sweats having to be washed and dried a couple times and still full of sand. The very dirty rainboots and shoes eternally left on the front porch because they are too disgusting to touch. But worst of all was today...and it happened once again on my watch. Today was another lovely t-shirt day. We had already played at the park in the morning with no major damage. This afternoon we were asked to go on a walk exploring with some neighbors. Living in a new development is an instant explorers dream for kids. Big trucks, chunks of concrete and rocks, mounds of dirt, mud..you get the picture. We had fun but it all ended with 3 kids getting hosed off in their scrubs in the middle of the street. Gretas clothes in the pic above...that picture was taken AFTER The hosing..I had to change my clothes, Fieldy was dirty but not as bad as usual and Greta was filthy once again. But it is all ok. Kids are supposed to be kids...even grown sized ones.

Spring Has Sprung So My Nose Is Spouting

Sorry, taking some time off the blog while I adjust to the spring weather that snuck up on me here. Flowers are in bloom which means early allergy season for me. I'm feeling a bit off while I wait for my allergy meds to kick in. Mr. Fieldy is also a bit under the weather with a bug and it is time to get into packing mode around here...11 more days til the move.
I'll write more in the next couple days. Working on getting video of Fieldin doing Karate chops and Greta singing her new song. They don't like the video camera....

Interview With Greta

Tonight before dinner, and while Fieldin ran around with my sweater over his head, I decided to interview Greta. She will be 5 in April and everchanging. I did know before the interview that she is still a great big sister, consoling brother when he is hurt, helping him with things, showing him lots of affection and laughing at his silliness. He is very lucky to have her. She is also interested in Eygptology. We finally broke down and bought her Egypt in a tube.."it's the great sphinx" she yelled. She also loves card and board games and is quite the monopoly player.(she buys all the utilities. Smart girl)Here is what else I just learned:

Greta loves: dance, ballet slippers, tutus, starfish, clamshells, finding fossilized shells(she finds HUGE ones), mommy(major brownie points..even though I did make the end of the list :))
Favorite Toys: Princesses, Princess Tiana, Charlotte and Prince Naveen.
Greta likes spending time: Playing old maid, UNO, hugging brother, being with mommy and daddy(ok she wants something...:)), Disney monopoly, playing with toys and playing games. playing with us and Fieldy on the weekends, pinching mommys hair, playing legos.
Funniest person she knows: Fieldy ( I would have to agree too)
Favorite Animal: Sting Ray
Favorite Food: Pita and applesauce
Fav Superhero: "wonderwoman, she's cooool!"
Fav Things to feed brother: Scooby Snacks
What do you want to be when you growup?: "live at home and be human"
Favorite clothes: Any Dress
Best thing about being a big sister: Feeding brother, dancing with Fieldy, tickling him, playing big legos with him.

We love you Greta.

Caped Crusader

One of the little man's favorite things these days is getting into the bib drawer and using his bibs as superhero capes. Maybe a subtle hint to mommy that we are lacking capes in our dress up bin. He usually asks Greta to help put on his bib capes but he is starting to do it himself. He turns them so they hang down his back and runs around with his arms out in front of him...flying. Then he jumps out from behind furniture or a wall yelling "boo".

His other favorite thing. Walking with his hands clasped behind his back. Sometimes he walks around like this making "hmmmmm" sounds as if he is pondering the world, which he probably is. He is especially proud of his behind the back hand clasping. So sweet.

Quite Possibly An Oregon Conspiracy...

I've been slacking a bit again.. I've been under the weather and suffering from slight writer's block, despite having lots of stories to tell. I am going to try to get in the habit of writing on the ol' blog again. So what to write today...what's rambling around in my somewhat hollow head....sorry just distracted by Greta telling me just now "we can't keep Fieldin pudgy." Noted. Thank you Greta.
So lets talk about an Oregon Conspiracy I have been pondering....rain. Every morning I check the weather and it tells me we will have rain. rain, partly cloudy, rain...repeat, repeat, repeat. The funny thing is I haven't seen much rain and would have to say this rain theory is a bit inaccurate. I have enjoyed many sunny days ranging in the mid 50's to low 60's since we have moved here. I am sure this is a bit abnormal and we are having a strange weather year or are we? Or is rain a way for Oregonians to keep tourists at bay, to keep them from stealing rocks from their beaches, from eating all their fresh produce and keeping their tax free shopping to themselves..hmmm. We've heard March and April are the really rainy months around here. We will just have to wait and see about that. For now I will ignore the consistantly wrong forescasts and enjoy the weather. I am on to you Oregon.
On a sidenote, I do think the summer months at the ocean are EXTREMELY rainy though...and cold...very miserable...just saying....ahem.. I know I know, lying. But the tourists will come and find my seaglass! I may have to join along in this conspiracy. Where can I sign up?

Sometimes

I've been finding it hard to blog lately. We are having to get things into place for our move at the end of the month. It is flying by. Lots to be done in the next few weeks. Paperwork is finally dwindling, new doctors were found, grocery stores were located. Just as things started to slow down, they are speeding up again.
Mr. Fieldin has also found new joy in opening toilet lids and splashing in the water. He acts quick. Water on the walls, floor, hair etc... yuck. Tonight I have to make a trip to pick up some safety locks.
I've been starting to teach Greta to read in the spare minutes I find, when Fieldin isn't into major mischief.
I keep telling myself it will all slow down in a month or so....oh please do!

Video Of Fieldin 16 mths

The video starts slow. Fieldy celebrated his 16 mth birthday in his favorite way... a singing and dancing marching parade around the kitchen island about 50 times. We go until he takes a seat telling us "all done". Then his favorite snack of milk and cheesy whale crackers.
