Back Among The Living

After a week of the flu, I think we are finally back to our normal routine. It was nice to get out hiking again today. We were slower and had to stop for coughing breaks but we finished a great hike, and that made us all happy. We missed the fresh air.
Yesterday we caught up on yardwork and had an opportunity to get a bunch of free succulents and chicks & hens for the yard. It required a drive and crawling around in the dirt but I came home with a great collection that have found their way into pots or the yard.
A very mellow weekend for us. Ready for the new week! The kids are ready to get back to swimming and activities they have missed. I am ready too!

Sick Saturday & Sunday

We almost made it through the whole winter without getting sick...but the germs caught up with us..
Greta was sick Friday and got worse on Saturday. She and I have been taking over the sofas for the last two
days. Fieldin has a bit of the sniffles and the cat has been sneezing. Jeff is our healthy and helpful butler :)
Fieldin's had some time to play Mario, he loves that game.
Some of you may remember this but before we moved here, if the kids ever had a sick day we would throw them a Happy Sick Day party in their room. Either we haven't had many sick days or the tradition was forgotten, so we decided to start it back up. Fieldin wanted to make Peter Pan hats. He drew on his and added a paper leaf. Jeff decorated Greta's because she was napping most of the day.  Hey, I didn't get a hat!
Today was another lazy day but these three played a marathon Monopoly game and we watched alot of PBS.
When I am laid up I get bored. Very bored. I got out my easel and started a painting. I haven't painted in so long I needed to play around and get used to paints and canvas again. I still have another day of work left on it but hope to finish this week.
Hoping you are having a healthy and happy weekend!

A Video For You From Fieldin

Their favorite Monster truck, Monster Mutt

Wiping Up Sweat Part II

She was sick and snuffly but WANTED to go do her ball girl duties.
WSU was here playing OSU so Jeff was excited to watch too.
Look closely at her ponytail below....shhh... don't tell her but yes among all those orange and black ribbons are two LONGER and strategically placed WSU ribbons... Now in my defense she is a PAC 12 ball girl so doesn't that cover all teams? meaning the cougs :) If you are wondering, yes Benny the Beaver noticed and pointed at her head for all to see. I was home with a snuffly Fieldin so all blame fell on Jeff.
 Mopping at the whistle
Do a little dance, mop a bit of floor....
Her favorite part, getting to shoot balls at half-time like the big girls do. :)
Now a video for your entertainment....

More Valentine's Day

I forgot to post Miss Greta's Valentine's Day!
Picking up conversation hearts with chopsticks.
 treat time
Going through all the cool Valentine's at home. I love the frog bag she made.
And little Bubbas... still reading out the letters and wanting to read those Valentine's on his own, sooo bad.

Happy Valentine's Day

Been a bit busy around here and I have to say Valentine's Day kind of snuck up on me.
Fieldin enjoyed his preschool party yesterday and Greta is very excited about hers today.
He really loved getting Valentine's. He said he is just sad that he is not bigger because he can't read them. :(
He really wants to read and asking us to spell words for him all day. His sister gives him hugs and tells him he will read soon. That's love.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

A Day For Fieldin

Fieldin loves his Monster trucks.
Sunday we went to see real monster trucks in action.
We took the kids to a pit party where they could get up close to the trucks and meet the drivers.
After the pit party we sat in the stands and watched them bring in cars to crush with tractors and prep the tracks. Fieldin really liked that. Then the gates opened and soon after the action started.
One of Fieldin's favorite cars, Mohawk Warrior.

 Waiting to meet a driver.
The kids colored pictures of Monster Mutt (their favorite car) to get their autographs on. Here is Fieldin showing the driver.
 Kids with Taryn, the driver.

Not quite as big as a tire..yet.
Fieldin gave us a thumbs up after seeing Grave Digger, another favorite.
 watching them prep the course
This is what he came to see... :)

Greta From The Past

I have come to the conclusion that our house is an endless pit of pictures and little bits of memories.
I think of myself as pretty organized but then I come across a box or envelope that is full of sweet memories.
That happened today.
Here are some conversations with Greta that I had written down, what seems so long ago, for me to add to her baby book or something...before we had our family blog journal.
Enjoy.

Greta age 33 mths while making a princess crown with me.

Me: What's your favorite thing?
Greta: "This one... the crown. I like sheepies crown too." (Sheepie was a sweet woolly sheep from her great grandma)
Me: What color is your crown?
G: "Yellow. What color is your crown? White? I can draw a sky. See?"
Me: Who wears crowns?
G:" Daddy. He likes crowns"
Me: Who Else?
G: " Jayden and his mother Stefany"
Me: Do queens wear crowns?
G:" yep....Never eat a potato....I see two birdies. See mommy...you want to draw a birdie or something?

Greta age 3

Me: What are your favorite things?
G: " Pelicans. I like moose "
Me: What are your favorite things to do?
G: " Blackberry picking, dressing up and playing with my cars."
Me: What's your favorite toy?
G:"Thomas trains. They are upstairs."
Me: "What's your favorite color?"
G: " Stripes.....yellow"
Me:What do you like to do with mommy and daddy?
G: " Go to the park, See Mr. Paco (a horse she rode) and play with a ball."
Me: What are you going to do this weekend?
G:" BOATING!"

Tuesday Art Day

Tuesdays and Thursdays are Mommy and Me days around here. We usually do an "art project/write/play alot" morning since he doesn't have preschool. As Fieldin gets older he is wanting more art time (his favorite thing to do...PAINT!) and he loves counting and trying to write new words. The years before Greta went off to school were spent doing our own little "mommy school". I have such fun memories of teaching Greta while we watched Fieldin in his high chair or while he napped. I am so very lucky to have Fieldin to teach and play with too. Special time with my boy.

Today we made airplanes out of clothespins and Popsicle sticks. He was just happy to get out his paint brushes.
After we made his plane we practiced writing airplane and drawing an airplane. He liked counting to 15 each time we had to wait for the glue to dry on his plane.
painting...I love those little hands and the concentration
he made a "grumpy Fieldy" mouth
and we had to make one for his buddy Chomps....
Then his last project, making his footprints with paint and paper and then making it into something. He drew and wrote "Seagull". The seagull is wearing a hat.

This picture reminds me of a quote I've seen.
" You make me as happy as a seagull with a french fry"
Yes, Fieldin, you make me THAT happy. :)

ABC Song- Video

Today after preschool, Fieldin was singing lots of songs for me. I was lucky to get one one tape. :)

She Dances

Sunday Greta attended a cheer camp and then danced at half-time at the OSU girls basketball game. Greta was excited to dance and Jeff and I were excited to watch the girls play Stanford, so it was a win- win day.
After camp, waiting for the game.
With Benny... yes their days of liking Butch Cougar are over. These kids are Beaver fans and there is no going back.
Greta dancing (she's the one jumping)
(Gret's behind the cheerleader)
I was going to upload a video but it was 5 min and too long...
This is her favorite spirit move, she says.
So at the end of the day, I asked her if she liked cheering.
"Yes, but not the dancing. You have to learn the steps and not dance the way you want. I'll stick with swimming"

Around Here

Around here, days are flying by. We've had some ups and downs over the last week but keep plugging along. Alot of busy-ness and then a lot of rest. I guess thats our family motto. "Work like a captain, play like a pirate". :)
The kids watching American Ninja Warrior, where athletes have to go through obstacles. They love it.
Fieldin at a work desk playing games. We just added another work space. Now we ALL have somewhere to go and work/play/craft.

Again another week gone by and barely any pictures. I need to start toting around my camera.....
