Time With My Aunt & Uncle

When we got out of the car at my aunt and uncles house, Fieldin said "Is it time to drive a tractor now?" You can imagine how excited they were about this.
Greta drove on a trail and around the yard. Fieldin in the picture below was trying to run me down.. actually run all of us down.
The kids also liked riding on the caterpillar
There was other fun stuff to do on the land. Climb trees, wood piles, pick flowers and look for cats.
After lunch we walked to town for ice cream. Then more tractor fun.
On our walk Fieldin picked me this "very special bouquet" and he gave me a kiss and hug.. I'm a lucky mommy.
They liked climbing on the wood pile
and she liked putting wild roses and daisies in her hair.
Jeff and I had fun with the tractors too... :)
The kids were so exhausted they barely made it to the car. Once we hit the road they slept the whole way. Then Greta found her way to a sofa and crashed again. I've never seen them so tired. It was awesome...:)

Family

We Took a 5 day trip to visit family over the break. The kids were able to visit with grandparents and cousins. It was nice to see everyone. Now we need a day to rest, we are pretty tired!
 bowling with cousins
lots of sleeping in the car

Playing at the park with cousins

Morning To Noon

Before I begin just wanted to post this picture of yesterday. It was warm. He was outside eating a popsicle with the cat(whom you can see in the background) and he brought me in a flower. Love pictures like this of the normal everyday life. Which reminded me... I don't document our days as well as I used to. It is always nice to remember what a normal day was like. Since it was rainy and Fieldin didn't have preschool, it was a good day to make note of what we did today, so far.
5:30-8:45: Breakfast, cartoons, drawing pictures(Greta: cats and birds, Fieldin: Angry birds in space)
Greta's hair, getting her backpack jammed full for school, exercise, unloading/loading dishwasher, take Greta to school. Not minding the pouring rain because the car really needs cleaned off. Even water will make an improvement.)
9:00ish. Let Fieldin plays on computer while I pick up house and drink a little coffee.
Make to do list.
9:30: Read search and find book with Fieldin.
Play a couple games.
Hugs and tickles
10:30 ish: Go to garage to rescue cat from top of car....why o' why?
Remember my driftwood pile in corner and start wood gluing driftwood together to make a seahorse.
Stop early into it because realize I need extra small nails for this instead and Jeff doesn't have them.
Fieldin plays with cars by me.
11:00 Snack for Fieldin. Cheese and crackers. Trip to the mail box. No good mail...
More play time. Fieldin likes putting things on hooks and string and spinning them in the air.
Monster trucks.
The cat wants out but not in the rain. So he heads to garage again.

11:30: Hear crashing from garage. Seriously cat!! Bring the mischief maker back inside. He then takes a nap.
Fieldin hungry for lunch. Of Course!
Make shaved brussel sprouts with balsamic and ham.
While that steams I notice three overripe bananas and some strawberries on counter.
Get out the hydrater, cut fruit to dry for Greta's snacks.
12:00 Eat brussel sprouts with some pineapple. Reheat some cheese noodles for Fieldin. He ate roasted purple cauliflower with his dinner last night and don't want to push it.
Let Fieldin talk me into giving him a cookie.
12:30 ish: Blog and play with helicopters. Waiting to see what we will do next... 3 1/2 more hours until we see Greta.

Around Here-Photo Dump

I didn't grab the camera as much as I should have this week.
Here is what I did catch...
This is what he does when he wants attention. He hangs over the fridge or follows us around with his fetch toy.
Breakfast before school. Yogurt and granola. Greta reading of course(Calvin and Hobbes) That's a spoon hanging out of Gret's mouth.
Evening.. wanting out to get birds.
He wants to wear his goggles ALL the time. To school, to the store and to play.
He is either a super hero, swimmer or "worker" in them. I think he is just cute.
These kids are up at 5:30 a.m. So early morning reading, playing or cartoons before school. Here they are watching Shaun the Sheep again...
Working on his numbers and writing. His friend always is right there...
Sunday morning. They were watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Then homework for Gret. She had to do internet research on Raccoon habitats, then write about it. The way we learn has changed.
I wonder if these kids ever get tired of me sneaking up on them with my camera.

Preschool Field Trip To The Fire Station

Busy week around here, so playing a bit of catch up.
Fieldin had a field trip on Friday. The hard part of this blog is not being able to always post all the pictures I take. I don't want to post pics of other peoples children if I don't have approval. So I kept a couple cute ones out that will have to make their way into a scrapbook instead.
Fieldin and his buddy. These two are like peas in a pod. Also, they can make some major mischief with water. Good thing the hoses were turned off at the station.
 In the front seat.
About ready to board an ambulance.
Very cute field trip. I love his preschool and his teachers. He is a very lucky little boy. Two more weeks of school for him. I know he will miss it horribly this summer.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to me! And to anyone else that raises, mentors or has raised children.

 Me and my girl.

 Me and my boy.
Someone chainsawed a cool chair out of driftwood and left it on the beach. It was perfect for pictures.
We find a lot of hearts in nature and we like to photograph them all. Greta says, it is grandma leaving us a message each time we find one.
I'm thinking of you too mom.

So today, the kids said I can do whatever I WANT to do today.
My passport is expired so Europe is out of the question.
(Fieldin who knows me extremely well, randomly asked if we were going to the airport today. He knew what I was thinking..)
No Lear jet, no passport, looks like I am taking them hiking..again. :)

Mandatory Beach Day

Love these two. They were taking a break for lunch and tootsie pop time.
We all needed some fresh air. It was a rare day at the beach. The kids could have easily been in swimsuits.
A much needed day to refresh.
The kids have always been able to make a day out of the beach, but Jeff and I would usually call it quits before they were ready too. So now, we set up a "homebase" tent, blanket, radio, food, toys and we can truly make a day out of it.
I cannot believe they are 8 & 4 years. Of course, we had to add the 1/2 for Fieldin because that is ALL he talks about. The 1/2 is so important to him.

My favorite part of the day was driving the remote control cars over sand jumps, running with the kids and playing frisbee.

 Greta
They played in the water alot yesterday. I love that he drags her more to the water nowadays. It used to be the other way around.
Fieldin broke off some dried kelp and was captain hook yesterday. He really wanted to bring it home....
 hiking along the lighthouse trails.

Hiking some more. We tried a new hike south of Newport. I loved it. Next time I want to take some of the side trails too.
Good thing the kids are not migratory birds. They played a game with a Ranger yesterday. Gret was a Peregrine Falcon. She has the red band on her leg because she was tagged in both games. She then ended up being shot by a bb gun and eaten by a cat in the second game. She never made it to migration. Fieldin ran into a skyscraper, ate some bad food and then was eaten by a cat. Pretty bad odds for the birds. :)
