Spring Break...

Has been uneventful. Jeff and the kids have been feeling a little under the weather. There is no stopping the rain. We've spent alot of time inside. GiGi came to visit for a few days so that was a nice change to the week. I feel like we have been in hibernation with the kids sick. Lots of napping and laziness, postponed errands and outings. The kids wore their p.j.'s almost the whole week, not wanting to get dressed. There has been lots of playing and reading. Greta has been reading Magic Treehouse books which encouraged a trip to the library. She reads a book in a couple hours so we have been flying through them. Chompers spends hours trying to attack the backyard birds from inside. He especially likes to try to scare off the hummingbirds. He is in bird mode all day which has lessened the amount of fetch I play with him a day. We didn't do anything we hoped to do during springbreak, but that is ok. We had lots of laughs, playtime, cooking experimentation and rest. I'll take that any day. :)

From The Mouth Of The Babe

Here are a few things I have heard Mr. Fieldin say recently..they made me smile....

I found Fieldin sitting in the hall with his piggy bank emptied around him. He was throwing money in the air. When I asked what he was doing, he said, "I am throwing money in the air like Robin Hood does".

When the stove timer dings: " I hear it counting. I hear it counting!. It's done"

Standing over the cat with an intimidating voice" Get off my land"

"I'm just pulling out a wedgie" giggle giggle... he likes to say this to make Greta laugh.

A car lovin' Fieldin was in heaven at the Costco tire center. When we left he asked an employee, "Can I have my birthday party here"

This kid is into potty humor and his sister eggs him on. He loves the word "toot", "stinky fool" and "poop on you".. He especially likes to use these words when he is playing samarai and fighting his imaginary ninja.

Warning: Don't turn on celtic music or Fieldin will take off his pants and hysterically start singing"Scottish dance in your underpants" over and over.

He has an imaginary world where he owns a house in Corvallis. He has a cat named White Chedder and a dog named Sindy. His dad's name is Gus Gus. He has three ducks: Hans, Solo and Quack. He also owns a couple of hotels in Hawaii so he is a good pal to have:) He also just acquired a house in Portland which I believe is close to the zoo. How he pays all  these mortgages?  I have no clue :)

He came sprinting down the hall with the cat chasing behind the other night. We were in bed asleep and he threw our door open and in the silliest voice he said" I am lightening Mcqueen tonight!!!" then he went back to sleep.

He is a chatty little man with a huge imagination. Preschool will be interesting in the Fall....

Catch Up

Wow.. I've forgotten about the blog lately. Here are some pictures I just found on one of the cameras from the week before spring break. This was the second snow day the kids had and Greta didn't have school. So we spent a fun morning sledding on the awesome hills within our neighborhood.
The sled hills were worn down to perfection so the kids could get some air at the bottom. This was one of the fast hills.
The twosome ready for the speedy sled hill. They would fly off the sled at the bottom of the hill, look at each other and bust out laughing. I loved it, even though my heart was in my stomach watching my children barrel down a hill on a thin piece of plastic..
Completely frozen and heading home. We were just a block away from home so we were back in no time.
Fieldin really got into the sledding. He loved it. He was a little nervous at first but after his first solo trip, I could hear him at the bottom of the hill, giggling and shouting "again".

Snow.. Snow.. Snow

Snow Day..No School.. Lot's of hot chocolate in the kitchen. We are set.
The poor pretty blooms that were so springlike yesterday.
Little Bubba so happy for snow to throw at us.
Taking a walk around the neighborhood and checking the tadpole pond.

Photo Dump

Jeff made this for Chomps. The kids love it and most surprising, Chomps doesn't mind...
He had a day where he wanted to wear his sunglasses all day.
 She loves her kitty.
Watching the birds and trying to scare off hummingbirds at the feeder.
 It's bubble time again.
This kid has a good right hook.
 Planting lots of seeds.
Playing with smash and cars before soccer class
The little mans seed cup. His favorite color green... for the green lantern
Ready to go watch a play with me. It was a fun girls night.

We are still having lots of rain but the blooms on the trees are pink. The kids have been busy jump roping and playing basketball in the garage on icky days. They also make their favorite thing together..whipping cream from scratch for strawberries which they can make on their own. Lots of reading, cleaning, playing, dancing and keeping busy while inside...

Today

Today all I want to do is read Hunger Games.
Today I had fun volunteering in Greta's class.
Today we are going to see the Lorax.
Today Greta searched the house for Leprechauns.
Today Chompers has spent his day watching and calling the birds in the backyard.
Today we bought lots and lots of bubble soap.
Today we saw a bit of sunshine.
Today I watched Fieldin ride around on his bike with dried daisies hanging from his handle bars. So sweet.
Today I put a way a picture that Greta made of her and Fieldin chasing a goose with a net. Love it.
Today was the first day we were able to play at the park for awhile.
Today I drove around to see all the pretty spring bulbs up.
Today I drank two coffees.
Today I will run the dishwasher... twice
Today I really realize it is time to clean the garage.
Today I decide I like brussel sprouts but not parsnips.
Today we have a hummingbird at the feeder by our kitchen window.
Today has gone by too fast. Happy Friday Everyone.

Major Spring Fever

We have rain. We have sun.
I'm still not feeling 100%, but glad that the rest of the family is.
We are cooped up so any excuse to get out, we jump at.
Today it is sunny so Fieldin and I repotted the indoor plants and blew bubbles.
Daffodils are up, the birds have returned to the backyard and I smell fresh mowed grass coming through the window... so close to spring and days outdoors.
We never see chomps.. he is always in the windows sneaking around calling to the birds outside. I have vases of tulips and sunflowers around, bringing the color in. The thermostat gets turned down finally and the windows get opened up during the day. Winter coats and snow gear are slowly being dragged inside from the garage to be washed so it can hide away in backs of closets. More and more fresh produce is showing up at the market. Oh Spring you are so close!

Their wooden race cars they made.
Jeff and I spent last Saturday pruning and cleaning up the yard. The kids found frogs and ladybugs. Greta watched and cheered for this frog. She put it in water collected in Jeffs fishing boat. They were trying to talk to the frog and giving it directions on how to swim properly......
Hiking at Alsea falls. The fresh air was wonderful, so was the exercise. The kids were very excited to eat outside and have a picnic.
At the top of the falls.
Riding a carousel on a rainy day
A rainy day is a great excuse for ice cream and sprinkles.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Crazy hat day at school...My Thing 1!!
"Fun is good"- Dr. Seuss

Snow!!

 So much excitement!
Greta had to head to school knowing the snow would be melted by lunchtime.
The little snow man and I spent the morning playing outside. Days like this need to be enjoyed.
A little sledding with friends ended the morning.
So little snow, so much fun.
