A Chat With Mr. Fieldin

It's warming up here, we were able to go on a bike ride today!
The cat keeps wanting to play fetch.
Chores are done...for now
Games and puzzles played.
And I think it is about time for some popcorn and Nemo with Fieldin.

But first, I asked Fieldin(age 4) a few questions. We all know this boy likes to talk and talk and talk... surprisingly, he kept his answers short.

Me: "What's your favorite things to play?"
F: "Monopoly, Candyland, monster trucks, planes and cars."

Me:"What's your favorite food?"
F: "Cheese Chips and cookies"

Me: "Who's your best friend?"
F: "All my friends"

Me: "What do you like to do?"
F: "Play at the beach, watching starfishes, playing with Chompers.... I love him"

Me: "What do you like to do at preschool?"
F: " EVERYTHING!"

Me: "What's your favorite books?"
F: "The train books from Aunt Barb and Natalie"

Me: "What's your favorite show or movie?"
F: "wordworld"

Me:" Favorite animal?"
F: "cats and dogs"

Me: " Favorite songs?"
F:" Starlight/Starbright, alphabet song and any song with numbers

Me: "Anything else we should know about you?"
F: " Bear Fart"
Me: "ahem...."
F: "I want to see monster trucks in a stadium"

Around Here

Around here... our days have been full.
Around here... we have been soaking up time with friends.
Around here... we have been enjoying family time.
Around here...creativity has been in the air. (love that)

Greta is back at school after a four day weekend. While she was home we had fun spending a day at OMSI and having girl time while little brother was at pre-school. The kids are in swimming twice a week and both love it, especially Greta. Fieldin, continues to love pre-school and just playing and learning to write. I love watching his face light up as he writes out a new word. His favorite word is "Greta". He likes to hang up her name on the wall and show it to her.
Fieldin getting absolutely sopping wet at OMSI

After doing my photo dump I am realizing I need to start using my camera a bit more :)

Fieldy-ism's of The Day

"I like to put 2 cups of water in my hair to look handsome. I just spread it around my hair. Do you think I look handsome?"

"Probably. Probably, means yes. Maybe, means yes. We'll see, means no." (great..he's figured me out!)

"I didn't toot. I just farted in the air."

"Can you draw me a heart and pretty please, cut it out. I need to send someone a valentine" (and that sweet boy did work hard making his girlfriend a valentine)

If Fieldin Had a Twin

If Fieldin had a twin... I would need a lot more snacks :)

Escape Part II

Making jetty's and trying to destroy their lego town with a computerized tsunami.
Fieldin likes putting a Lego man on top of a tree to see what happens...

 Hotel time.
We hiked a big hill to see views of the waves and maybe a whale. All I see is Fieldin's bright white belly. What a goof.
 Morning hike.
 Us.
This sea lion looks like it wants to cry for help :)
Heading down to look for shell fossils. They love this.
Any guesses on what this is? not a flagpole.. It's a piece of dried kelp stuck in the sand upright.

Escape

We needed sun.
Heat.
Plus, I couldn't be stuck in side anymore. When I am bored, I organize.
Which makes me make a big mess of things.
 picnic

Hopscotch. Much easier to come up with things to do on beach than trying to carry ALL of Fieldin's beach toys.
 She is getting so tall.
Upset after a fall in the ocean.
octopus with Starbuck cup ring tenticles.
Jumproping with an old piece of rope.
 Fieldy's hopscotch
 Rest time
She loves exploring.

Fog And Rest

We have had too much fog.
It's made us lazy and we've been spending lots of time at home.
The kids like to dig up the ice they can find in the backyard and then run back inside to warm up.
Lots of organizing, play and relaxing (and watching new Downton Abbey!)
The kids found a box in the garage and spent days playing with it. I just noticed the cat is on the rug. He has a way of getting into almost every photo.
This was taken the day before the fog rolled in. Picnic at the park. I found little yogi after he took off with the basket.
Indoor play means lots of dress up for humans and our poor little feline.
Go away fog.

She is still a book :)

Our Greta is still a book.
She has always loved books as most of you know.
Books, Brains and Beauty.. that is what I think of when I see her these days.
She reads at meals, on errands, in her free time..it's the first thing she does in the morning and the last thing she does before falling asleep. That is, if she is sleeping and not pretending to while reading under her covers with a too small of flashlight. One morning she read a book all the way to the bus stop, while waiting and as she got on the bus.. most impressive.
Her and her books and her drawing. I see a bit of little me in her every day. I love that we share these hobbies together.
 morning
Right after school on her kindle looking for books.
After homework reading a book from the school library.
After dinner with another book.
I took these photos and she didn't even notice. She is so absorbed in her reading. It reminds me of Belle at the beginning of Beauty and the Beast, walking through town not noticing anything or anyone.
Funny coincidence her middle name is Belle...

A Confession

Before I begin, I just want to clarify, I don't think I am old. I am just getting older.

My body had a surprise gift for me this year.
My body told me I was getting older and not in a nice way.
My body/muscles ached for no real reason right after my Birthday.
I was miserable and laid up on the sofa most days.
When I did have to go away from my comfort island sofa, I didn't let on that anything was wrong, even though I wanted to cry with every step or movement. I was in such pain and a bit scared.
A week later I wasn't getting better, so I broke down and went to the doctor.
Turns out there is nothing wrong with me per se....just getting older. No pulled muscles, no pinched nerves.
I had just overdone "something"?
Anyway, I was told I need to start stretching in the morning and night.
I need to go buy a heating pad.
And maybe I need to slow down a bit.
If you know me at all, the latter won't happen.
The last day or so I have been improving.
I have to say, I don't feel old and I am not old but I am getting older.
I need to deal with that.
I had kids later in life and I like being active with them.
That won't ever change.
When I have grandkids I will even want to keep up more.
I was a little peeved at my body for turning on me this 37th year of my life.
I know it could have been worse by far.
I am a bit glad of it now. I will need to change some things but I will be better off for it for years to come.
If I am lucky, I will still be playing beach dodgeball when I really am old someday.
Future me better watch out.

Happy Birthday To Us

It's that time of year again... Jeff and my birthday's.
Mine is today and his is tomorrow. Today is the one day of the year, Jeff and I are the same age.
Then tomorrow he is older than me again :)
The kids made a gluten free cake for us this year. They did a very good job. Now I expect them to make me one every year:)
The final product. Tomorrow it will be adorned with 38 candles.
 Me and my loves.
This one wanted to know what kind of animal or cartoon character we wanted on our cake :). Also he keeps asking me what he can get me for my Christmas... I keep telling him I would like a year worth of hugs and kisses for my birthday or as he says Christmas. "nope." he says... I think you should get a dress, make up, cafe yumm sauce or something else"... :)
Blowing out our candles, we didn't realize the cat was waiting for us to throw his dum dum for him.
