A Good Day

So this week has been a little....different.
In the last few days we have cancelled a vacation (Thanks to the swine), made a decision not to move out of state and been plagued by blooming trees. We did throw a little pity party for ourselves and yes, there was some cake. As much as I like a pity party, it didn't last long. No more stress of packing our bags or our house and the allergy meds are kicking in.
So what have we been busy doing instead of stressing? Playing with a bubble gun, baking cookies, playing, playing some more and ignoring our poor fish. Oh yes, life is back to normal.
Anyone else having "A Week"?

My Hill, My Morning

No lights on in the neighborhood yet. I'm up before morning showers and breakfasts.
Chillier today, glad I grabbed the sweatshirt on my way out.
Hello Hill.
I pysched myself up for you over a load of laundry. Will you send me packing early today?
Blasting tunes.
I'll do criss cross sprints today.
There's my footprints in your gravel. Hmmm, looks like I was your only taker yesterday.
Catching my breath, ugh, looks like rain today maybe.
I think I'll skip the track today and walk the long way home instead.
Will Greta be up? I hope so. I know Fieldin and Jeff are. We can all share breakfast...
See you tomorrow Hill.
Time to really start my day.

4 Going On 15

With Tinkerbell cake.
Miss Greta had a great Birthday despite being under the weather. She woke up and decided she wanted to be dressed like a princess. We got into party gear and had a very nice day. My girl is now 4. I still can't believe it. She is very mature for her age and this conversation confirmed it even more.
Me: "So, how do you like being four? "
Greta: "Good. I want to be fifteen. "
Me: *Gulp* "Why????"
Greta: "So I can drive a car." (She REALLY wants to drive and has been a pretty good back seat driver since 1 1/2.)
Me: *Gulp,Gulp*
I didn't have the heart to tell her she had to wait til sixteen.

4 Years Ago On The 18th

1:16 A.M. 4 years ago

We experienced a miracle.
We cried tears of joy hearing your first cry.

You had my nose.

I was a me, a Mrs. and at that moment your mommy.

We were blessed.

The night you were born your poor tired daddy went out to pick up some dinner. While he was walking the sky lit up in the most vibrant amazing pink sunset he had ever seen.
We believe it was the heavens celebrating you.

Our Sweet Girl. Happy Birthday.
We love you always.

That's what my week has been about.

Miss Greta received a lame gift of bronchitis for her 4th birthday tomorrow. All plans are cancelled but being rescheduled for sunnier and healthier days. Honestly, I think I am more upset about it than she is. I sat down with her this morning to break the news and all she said was a raspy"o.k.". Then on with her morning cartoons. I can learn alot from this girl.
Then there has been pruning. I missed my pruning shears. The weather was nice yesterday and I had a sleeping baby so I quickly visited my other babies. My 25 rose bushes. I was able to get half of them pruned so I hope to finish them this weekend. I am happy to report that they all made it through the winter....I think.

When I make mistakes, I use alot a salt.
Salt makes mistakes taste great.

It's a nice day here on the Palouse. There is pretty Spring light flowing through the house. The windows are open. Is Spring here to stay? Don't answer that.
For some reason that reminds me I have not updated you on my paperless house ambitions. It didn't work, for now. I do believe it will happen in a couple years when I have more time and the kids are older. I have changed some things. My calendar is paperless and working wonderfully for me. I haven't forgotten or lost anything. Have I? if you were stood up let me know :)
Next will be recipes. Long term paper to-do lists are bye-bye but I can't give up short term notes and post its... Yet. I am still optimistic about a paperless world but taking baby steps. I am converting Greta into a mini me enviromentalist. She likes to turn off ALL the lights but her own to save the polar bears. We all do our part, right? :)

Right Now

Right now I am... Eating a few nachos while I listen to Vampire Weekend (a great band by the way)and peek out the window for a rainbow(we are in the midst of spring showers). I am tired so thinking I may watch some TV tonight to veg for a while. Biggest Loser is on in a hour. That show makes me want to eat pudding everytime. Watching the show could potentially put me on the show. O.k. no TV tonight. Hearing Fieldy let out his last cry of the day.. he is down. One more to go. Where is she anyway? Picking up her room. What?? Wow. Dryer buzzing. Better Go.

A Down Pour At The Hunt

It is a tradition to take Greta to a egg hunt each year and each year we brave the weather. We have had egg hunts in snow to 70 degree weather but this year the weather was a bit rough. There was a DOWNPOUR. Greta got soaked and semi-frozen but she persevered and came home with a basketful of Eastertime goodness. Hope the weather is a bit better for you East Coasters. It is cold but that is what hot chocolate is for, right? Happy hunting everyone.

Spring Brings Lots Of Birthdays

At least it does in my world. One of those birthdays happens to be today. Here's a song for you mom.

HAPPY Birthday to YOU. Happy birthday to you. I won't say your age... cause you look at this blog page. (I'm not too old to get in trouble)
Happy Birthday tooooooo YOU!
See you soon.

The next birthday. 8 days and counting....more on that next week.

Spring Brings Cleaning

Darn It.

On another note, the babe is sitting on his own. I think he has been able to do it for awhile now. That is life with a second child. With the first child one writes thesis like notes about every "first". I remember waiting and waiting for Greta to hit her first milestones. With the second you find yourself saying "Hey, you're sitting now ??" while watching your baby sit for quite some time playing with toys. No tipping over. Not needing to be entertained. Not expecting a big "woot woot" for his new skill. It is such a different experience the second time around. I am just as proud, just as happy but just less "mommy crazy" the second time around. Soon I'll find him walking around, if not, I learned the first time around mobility is overrated. The safety gate is my arch nemesis.

Spring Brings Baseball

The opening day of baseball is observed like a holiday around this house. Why isn't it a holiday anyway?? We are far from a major league ball club but lucky to have a good college team to watch, especially since we live in the middle of the wheatfields. The weather has been great for baseball and so tonight we decided it was time to introduce the youngest to our American past time. He did well. He made it to the bottom of the fourth, before we had to pack up and head home. It took Miss Greta a couple years to build up to that many innings. I think he did so well because he was able to watch his sister dance her heart out. Who needs home runs when you have Miss Greta grooving to 80's tunes. It was a nice evening of enjoying baseball with a good friend, watching Greta groove and spend LOTS of time with Butch the cougar (you're pretty awesome Butch) seeing Fieldin get that "look" he gets whenever he watches sports and just happy to see green grass again.

Spring Brings Bubbles

To me, it is one of the best things about Spring. Bubbles aren't made to be blown in the chill of winter or the steamy hot days of summer. They are a joy of Spring, and the young girl in me will never tire of them. Watching an army of rainbow tinted bubbles soar into a blue sky and then slowly fade away is a bit magical to me. I also love feeling the cool Spring breeze as I spin and spin till every little bubble is freed from my little wand. The best part now, is watching Greta spin, concentrate on her speed (You can't go too fast or too slow to get the perfect bubble) and then watching her jump as high as she can to catch the thinning bubbles.
This year Fieldin is enjoying us spin and jump more than the bubbles themselves. Next year he'll understand the magic and why we head outside on these nice warm days with bubble wands in hand.

A Glimpse Of Our Week In Pictures

This has been another busy week but a few things stick out in my mind. Of course, my littlest babe turning 6 months old.. *sigh*. He enjoyed his half birthday. We thought he would think nothing of it. Oh no, his WHOLE body was shaking with glee when he got his present and Greta put up his decorations. (see last post). Note to self: may have future partier on my hands, who may not dance well. See above.
My obsession this week...homemade biscotti in all different flavors. It may be time consuming but well worth it. This obsession may last more than a week which is very rare for me, and yes, I am drinking coffee again. I am weak....

My treasures I found in the depths of a used booked store. "Chuck and Di Have a Baby" paper dolls. Where else will I see Royals in their skivvies without getting arrested. For those of you with your mind in the gutter, this is a very innocent book of paper dolls. The Queen would approve. My second find, Carmen Miranda paper dolls. I don't even like paper dolls and these are old and a little smelly but they called to me, so I rescued them.

And of course, a first introduction of Ginger the Easter Bunny to Fieldin. He acted as though he sits on the laps of semi-frightening bunnies all the time. It was a good experience for him, and now he finally knows who Greta is always talking about it. As for the photo, not much in a pastel mood at the moment. This felt more right than pink.
Miss Greta started up gymnastics again this week too. She is officially more coordinated and graceful then I can ever strive to be. Good job Gret, we are so proud :)
Have a great weekend everyone!

A 1/2 Year

We celebrated Fieldin's 1st half year with us today. In some ways it seems like 6 months flew by and in another way it seems like our big boy has been here forever. He fits into our family perfectly. Greta set up the decorations in a "Bob the Builder" theme. And yes, there was a present, given by Miss Greta. Six months ago he was just our sweet new boy. Now he is full of personality, our fun little superchunk. To Greta, he is a brother, friend and most importantly.... a scapegoat. :) Happy 1/2 Day!
