The Youngest

He is still all about the legos and spends lots of time building intricate things like this by himself. It amazes me.
He also likes dress up and imaginative play. Here he is dressed up as a snowman with a hat on his head.. he was a snowman all evening, he also likes being a cat and Star Wars characters. He dressed in full clone trooper costume to pick Greta and her friend up from school today.  Gret was embarrassed. It was awesome. He scored major "little brother" points for that!
He is also very excited to start kindergarten this Fall and to be at school with his sister. She is excited too and likes to take him to school events and show him things. She says she wants to take him to his orientation and show him around. I love it! I love that they take care of each other.
He also is still reading daily and loves playing wii.

Love you!

Easter

It was a very early morning. The Easter Bunny stopped by with fun stuff to keep them busy.
 We had bunny pancakes
Then after church we had our yearly tradition of an egg hunt in the back yard. They love this. Our backyard has lots of sneaky hiding places.
They are off on the hunt..

 Going through there loot..
We had a fun relaxing Easter that ended with a nice hike. The kids said "HAPPY EASTER" to anyone we met on the trails.

9

Greta lit her own birthday train this year.. we told her she must be getting older because her waffle looked like it was on fire..
opening a gift from brother before school
and opening some more after school
 below, getting photo bombed

at birthday dinner. She is all about the silly photos.
I'm just happy we can still get a picture once in awhile..
She was given a prepaid credit card. She was excited about this as you can imagine. This is her first signed receipt and she thought it was very cool she got to do this. She used her best cursive..
We brought ice cream sandwiches to her class. I sent Jeff over to take her picture thinking he may have better luck.. he was told "please stop" and we got another OMG no pictures around my friends face.
Fieldin was thrilled to go to her class and hang out. As usual they were very sweet to him and he LOVED it. He said it was the best part of his day. We had a fun day celebrating with Greta and it was a late night. She said she had a wonderful birthday and I am very glad. Happy Birthday Gret! We love you soooo.

Around Here

Around here we have been busy celebrating Greta and getting ready for Easter. The kids love dying Easter eggs every year. We worked on it an afternoon after school.
Greta helping Fieldin perfect some of his letters. He is very proud of his reading and tells every one his sister taught him to read.. :) She is a very good role model for him. He wants to be in spelling bee's like her too he said.
The cat.. he makes such a mess these days. I thought it was the kids making messes all over the house but I'm starting to notice it's the cat. He scatters his toys, Fieldin's legos, Greta's papers etc..
Fieldin's been wanting to do his archery again since the weather is better. Cupid has returned.
 more egg dying.
We are starting to think Fieldin may be the next Tim Burton. He likes to draw creepy pics and tape them up in the kitchen.. This one is titled "monster cat chasing little cat with a beard"
He is still wiggling his first loose tooth and has us check its "wiggliness".
The cat tries to claim every box, container etc as his own. This time of year he tries to fit in Easter baskets. Sad, but pretty funny. He went around in many circles inside this basket trying to figure out a way to lie down in it..he eventually gave up and stood in it.

S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G

Greta has made it into the school spelling bee each year since 1st grade. This is her third year and she was excited. Sadly for her, she didn't make it into the top two.
Here is Greta and Fieldin before school. My loves. Fieldin made the tye dye shirt and I'm afraid he will try to wear it every day, he loves it so. Greta.. well I can't believe she is almost 9.
This is her OMG! Do not take my picture AT SCHOOL mom look. (She doesn't like me taking her pic anymore when people are around, this just started this week..I guess I can be sooo embarrassing sometimes) This is why I put on the EXTRA long lense to embarrass her more!
Being crazy before the spelling bee started. (above)
Then the long wait for her turn.
Spelling her word in the first round(boy this girl is vocal with a microphone) . After this, I was nice enough to put my camera away so I could switch to giving her even more embarrassing thumbs ups... :)
Good job Gret, Get 'em next year!

Around Here

Around here I am catching up on outside work and getting behind on inside work.. I found the note above in the laundry room from Greta. "please wash my clothes in my hamper, Sincerely, Greta B."
He created his own Star Wars At-At without directions. It is pretty impressive and he is proud of it.
Greta at basketball warm ups.. annoyed I am taking a pic.. She's the one in pink shorts that's first in line. She doesn't like me taking her pic anymore in front of people.. I am told it's embarrassing...
The kids pet slug they found in the backyard. Fieldin named him Olympian..because he's sooo fast. giggle giggle.
When Gret's not home he takes her favorite reading spot on the porch swing.
Welcoming back the smell of lilacs..
The snakes are coming out of hibernation and I keep seeing them in the yard. This one was by my car door in the garage and freaked me out..
This one loves 3D movies, his sister just likes the popcorn.
So happy the nights are longer to fit in more hikes.
 these two..
the best places to smell the lilacs in our backyard..

It's Divine To Be Almost Nine

Greta's birthday is this coming week. She invited a few of her closest friends out to lunch at her favorite burger place and then to tye dye t-shirts with her. It was a beautiful day and we were even able to get some play time in at a park.
the tye dye place had dry erase boards to keep them busy while their shirts were prepped. Greta opened her gifts and we ate the tye dye cake Greta made.
Greta's best friend wanted to light her candle.
The inside of her cake below.. She did a great job!
Fieldin made his own shirt too and loved being around older girls :)
because they gave him lots of attention and danced with him...

The girls picked out the designs they wanted and colors, then learned how to rubber band them..
even chunk had a good time. It was fun and didn't feel like a party. Just a fun day hanging out with Greta and her friends. She has pretty awesome friends.
The grumpy cat had to get into the fun and shred her tissue papers and gift bags...
I can't believe she is going to be nine years old!
