If You Don't I Don't Care, I'll Pull Down Your UnderVear!!!! wah ha ha...

We have been celebrating Halloween since Friday morning.
Our kids can party like they're rockstars. Schlepping Halloween bags full of candy has not slowed them down.
The weather has been good and there is so many celebrations around here, the kiddos have been trick or treating since Friday afternoon. Friday morning I put on a Halloween party at Greta's Kindergarten(very fun!!!) and somehow ended up staying for music class, a fire drill and an assembly while dressed in my witch costume... I really love you Greta. I think I proved it:)
Then Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon we trick or treated hard core with uncle Mark locally. The kids loved it, and Fieldin kept a death grip on a Kit Kat bar for about a hour. Then today, Halloween (finally!) we took the kids to see Disney on Ice. Greta loved watching the princesses. Fieldin loved Stitch and Goofy. Good Times, Good Memories.

Greta and Fieldin at the Rose Garden for Disney on Ice. Both in Chuck Taylor's and one in a princess dress.
Disney on Ice show....

Saturday Trick or Treating downtown. Fieldin's costume was trashed Friday so we had to come up with a new costume...A coug fan.

Checking out his goods on Friday night...he ate most of it on the way home.
Fieldin checking to see what Greta has....
Tonight we pass out candy. Maybe take the kids around the neighborhood and say goodbye to another awesome Halloween. We will have candy laying around til' August.

She Can Read!!! And Some Pumpkins....

First off.. I am full of pride today. Miss Greta is a reader. She came busting off the bus today so fast Fieldin didn't even get a hello. She said she wanted to read to me so we sat right down next to the front door and she read. Then Jeff came home for lunch and she read to him. It is an amazing thing. This afternoon, I got out the old school Dick and Jane book and she did great. Sounding out new words that came along. Good job, Love. We are so so proud. I always said if you were a thing, you would be a book. You love them so. Now you get to experience them in a whole new way.
Now onto the pumpkins...

Greta scooped and cut up her own pumpkin this year ALL by herself. No help was accepted or needed. Here pump is the firefly next to her. I carved an owl and James the train, Jeff did Tinkerbell and a face and there is a batman pumpkin in there somewhere for Fieldin as well.
Fieldin was all over these pumpkins. He liked cleaning out all the seeds and then putting them back in the pumpkin.....

Us... covered in pumpkin goo and a day of roasting pumpkin seeds ahead of us. We roasted three mason jars full of seeds.

oh, here it is. His batman pumpkin... "I....Batman!!!" he says. And my gynormous pumpkin. This was my fault, I get carried away at pumpkin patches. I couldn't even lift it. It was too big really. I will try to scale down next year... or so I say.

Rockin Her ABC's

Been busy celebrating Fall and trying to clean out the garage. Cleaning the garage also means finding little friends from the wetlands. Last night we found a salamander who looked very happy to return to the outdoors. Here is a video of Greta Rockin her ABC's... Fieldin loves this and sits and grooves to her beat. Rainy Sunday here today. I have to little ones wearing backpacks wanting to ride the school bus. I made our sofa a bus and I am the driver. Much fun to be had this morning.

The First Law Of Thermodynamics...

I am horrible at science. But I got the jist of the first law of thermodynamics(except regarding lost keys and socks..)
Pretty much, from what my right brain mind concluded was that nothing can be lost along the way, only changed.
This year has been a bit stressful for me and full of adjustments, yet some things still seem the same.
My address is different, but our new digs still feel like "home".
My mom may be gone(and missed), but always here in spirit and in memory.
Greta may be off to Kindergarten and finding her independence but will always need me.
With all the changes we have faced so far this year most things remain unchanged. With the arrival of Fall we have found comfort in Pumpkin patches, cider and donuts, Charlie Brown Halloween and a porch full of pumpkins. The decorations are different this year but still heartfelt and put up with excitement from the little ones.
My life is different. I guess the keyword to my world right now is "changed"....but luckily each day brings a routine and rituals that makes one look fondly toward the future.
So things are different for me, nothing has really been lost....just changed.
thermodynamics, who would have thought....

Fall Is....

Carrots, peppers and apples that are as big as my head. SO good and cheap. I love the local farms around here.
Hanging Halloween Decorations. The decorations this year were my moms. I remember that they all hung on the slider or front window. All four of us love them. Greta and I hung some from the ceiling and taped some to doors. The kids like to eat meals and look up to see them hanging above. My mom made the bats out of construction paper and white chalk eyes. These are over 30 years old. I think they will find their way out every year in our home too.

Pumpkin patches. Little man was groining, grunting and eventually lifted the pumpkin and walked a foot. Then he said"big pumpkin" and "mommy you take". The farmer gave him a free pumpkin for all his hard work. He is a hoot.

Pumpkin patches at dusk. I love the smells, the colors, the harvest, the weather.
I just love this season!

Ode To October

"Suns and skies and clouds of June,
and flowers of June together,
You cannot rival for one hour
October's bright blue weather."

He was the best Batman in my poor opinion..
KABAM!!! POW!!!
I knew watching all that Batman would be beneficial to my future.
Can't wait to celebrate your big day tomorrow lil' pudge.
We love you, Batman.
