Petting Reptiles

Greta was very excited today and in her element. She loves bugs, reptiles and amphibians. Today at the Aquarium she had an opportunity to pet some. She looved it! Fieldin loved it! Jeff loved it! Me...well.....

petting an albino python
petting an alligator

petting a boa.
o.k. I have to admit, it was pretty neat. I just don't want one as a pet...oh please no.

Preschool Grad

(Greta and her buddy dumbo before school. Fieldy sneaking into her picture)
Miss Greta said goodbye to preschool on Friday. She misses school and her wonderful preschool teacher already. She will be starting Kindergarten in September. Greta said she wants to be Daphne when she grows up and solve mysteries. We are very proud of you Greta and look forward to our summer together!!!

The Little Man

I forgot to do a 19 mth progress report :) Here we go... The Little man... says things like"Look me, I'm done" after his lunch. Loves his art supplies especially markers and playdoh. He holds up his artwork and says"see? see?" and draws picture of me and says "is mama" ( I love that!), He likes to build and likes about anything, he loves his big boy cups and no high chair, he likes to pick on Greta, he is getting ready for potty training, he likes to clean, he dances everyday and loves music and singing for us, he loves blowing on his recorder and playing "band" with Greta(she plays her harmonica, and they play in the backseat of the car), he loves to run, he loves stitch and making stitch noises, he is starting to loooove books, he doesn't eat much but always wants chocolate and crackers, he LOVES little babies and dogs, he likes splashy baths, he is funny and very sensitive, he loves cuddles and kisses, he gets Greta her shoes and backpack while she gets ready for preschool (He hands them to her and says "shoes and backpack, outside", he is very mellow and easy going but does have a little temper, he loves being outside and playing golf, he doesn't like to be dirty or messy, he has nice hair :0) and we love him so very much.

I Took A Little Rain

It has been rainy here the last few days which has been a very good thing. The rain combined with some late nights have allowed me to get caught up a little after the move. Files and files of pictures since October have been cleaned up and some ready to print for scrapbooking. Woot Woot! Lots of cooking and baking have been going on as I get acquainted with the kitchen and some canvas was just bought for a little painting. Time to get back to my hobbies. The last time I developed pictures for albums the little man looked like this.....1 year old.

As for the kids, Fieldin is in the midst of cutting quite a few teeth and Greta is saddened that next week is her last week of preschool. What are all of you up to? I would love to hear!

A Big Day For Little Man

Today was a Big Day for Fieldin with many thanks to his wonderful big sister here! Here she is trimming dirty babies hair. The hair is grass and she can cut away as it grows...
Here is Fieldy reading his potty book. Greta helped him pick out a new potty today. He hasn't used it yet but has been practicing. He pulls down his pants, sits on the toilet, uses kleenex to wipe himself and heads to the bathroom where he has us help him wash his hands....Tomorrow we go buy pull ups.

He also decided NO MORE sippy cups. He let me know this loud and clear. Only big boy cups with no straws. He now drinks without spilling and wipes the water off his face with a napkin. Here Greta is teaching him to do a celebratory "cheers"!

Big boy..Big cup!

One of the practice moments. Greta is so proud of him and tells him so. She was so great with him today. I am so proud of her too!
As of tonight he also isn't in a highchair anymore. He sits on a seat at the table next to Greta. The two spent the afternoon coloring and playing with playdoh. Miss Greta says "I love sitting by Fieldy". It was a big growing day for both of them. Fieldin becoming such a big boy and Greta even becoming an even more amazing big sister!

Falling Off The Planet

So lately I have had a bit of a struggle keeping up with the world. I don't watch t.v. or the news, I have piles of unread newspapers and magazines, I just send quick texts on the phone, and never jump on facebook. This has been causing me a bit of guilt and sadness. I haven't been keeping up with people or the news. Just recently on vacation, my friends husband said it perfectly "when you have young children you kind of fall of the face of the earth for a couple years". Well, it looks like I have fallen. I have done pretty well up til now but I finally lost my grip and have fallen off the planet, somewhere into the milky way. I hope to catch a rocket back to earth and rejoin civilization in a year or two (probably after potty training :)). I appreciate you all keeping up with us on this blog. If you don't hear from me, please call or email. I will be so happy to hear from you. It will be a nice break from chasing the little man and squishing cheerios under foot while humming music from the Nutcracker so Greta can practice her leaps. I will continue to do updates on the blog and pics on flickr, I just won't feel as guilty when I don't do it.
Hope you all had a great Weekend and Monday! The weather was nice here. We did a little hiking, planting, pollywog rescue, and normal weekend stuff.
Love ya all !

Today Part II

No pics today! We were busy and I didn't have the camera. I did a day in the life for Thursday and here is one for Friday, sans fun pics. Today was a preschool day so thought it would be fun to document the difference in my days...
All of us are up at 6:45. Showers, dressed, I make breakfast (tried to see if I could make them eat breakfast sausage yet...nope, I am the only one in the house that will touch it) Eat breakfast outside, watch birds & planes. Say goodbye to daddy as he leaves for work :(
Dishes & "Max & Ruby" then out the door to drop off Greta at preschool. Fieldy is happy to wear shoes but puts up a struggle at the car...He thinks it is trike time.
Back at home, move from front yard to backyard many times with Fieldin while we play. I am TIRED! Put him on his trike to visit a neighbor, it will confine him for a moment :) . Meet nice new neighbor on my way. Fieldin holds hands with sweet neighbor girl his age. They look like twins..same hair, height, so cute. Watch them walk up and down sidewalk for 15 min holding hands. Fieldin is so happy. Pretty sure he is in love. Head home for lunch and golf. Meet more new neighbors. Naptime for Fieldin. Greta doesn't take one(opposite of yesterday, so unfair).
Jeff takes Fieldin to dr. appt and Greta and I go shopping at the local nursery. Jeff meets up with us to help drag all the plants home...
Get my garden helpers ice cream( it was in the 80's today!) It is happy hour at Starbucks this week. Stop for mandatory caffeine. Dinner. Start doing yardwork.
Chaos. Neighbor kids everywhere. It is wonderful. Greta meets a girl her age. They are so excited they practically hug! Chat with neighbors. Meet more neighbors. Fieldin is chasing everyone down to give them hugs. He is so affectionate. Luckily noone minds and hugs back. Getting late and head inside.
Tired but happy. Yay it's the weekend!! Woot! Woot!

Yesterday

Yesterday was a non preschool day. Here is a typical day kids, pretty normal. Pretty special. Breakfast, Art project (above, guess which one is fieldy's :))Playroom playtime, Dressed, Playground. All before 10 a.m. ..coffee for me.
More art time. One of his favorite things.. He said a new sentence with Greta "Fairies where are you?"
A trip downtown to sign Greta up for a week long acting camp this summer that she is excited about. A visit to daddy's office and to check out an art shop. A stop by my favorite coffee shop for coffee(yes, more coffee) and amazing mini donuts they make on site...Kids(and me!) devour donuts and we walk for a bit to burn off donuts and pick up Greta and my finished pottery from the pottery shop(we made it on her birthday so yes, it took us awhile to pick up)

Lunch with big Sis outside. Then ball, bubbles, singing and inside for nap.

Pre lunch golfing.
Nap at noon. Fieldy didn't nap so we colored, played and I got to see him blow bubbles on his own for the first time while we sat on the sitting wall in the backyard.
After nap, Fieldy and daddy picked up gardening supplies and Greta and I did some bowling and planted a fairy terrarium for her bedroom window. The kids keep looking for fairies....
Then a game of ball, bath and bed.
Late bedtime since we couldn't pull the kids away from window. They thought a planet was a fairy flying to the window. Sat and watched how sweet they were.
Lights out. yay!

Baseball

One of the best memories from our trip was watching the Portland Seadogs. It was a warm night, Greta gave the Seadog high fives, the kids ate ballpark food, Greta boogied and sang "take me out to the ballgame" louder than everyone.. it was a good night. I am a baseball convert once again. I've been a little spoiled over the years going to MLB games. I haven't really enjoyed them in quite awhile. The Seadogs are a Red Sox farm team and I have to say I enjoy these games much better. The stadiums aren't too glitzy, no overpaid burnt out players and easy parking. The games are shorter and better on the wallet. Fieldin loves baseball just like his daddy. He hasn't been to very many games yet but you would have thought so watching him this night...

Eating sundaes....Greta's favorite part.
Getting into the game. Look at him!
He did not want to be bothered.
Cheering of course! Except he kept yelling "Babe Ruth" (he has a pic of him in his bedroom)
Then he'd yell "go, go, GOOOO!"
At this point, Greta was dancing in the aisle. The kids almost made it to the 9th inning...pretty good! Well little man, looks like you just found yourself a life long love. Just don't let your daddy get you hooked on those Chicago Cubs :) Go Sox!

Back in the swing of things...

Flew in late last night from vacation. We visited friends and spent some family time together. We are getting in the swing of things after being gone for two weeks. I will have some pics posted soon. I hope to have some video of Fieldin, he is full of new words and songs and using sentences... He also wants to sit at the table with us, not the high chair and has been showing signs of wanting to be potty trained... he just turned 19 mths a week ago!
Greta has been homesick for home and preschool and happy to be home! This morning she and I will be going to her kindergarten orientation for Fall!
It's nice to be home.
