Another Frugal Fun Day

Lil’ man finished his camp today. He said his game turned out pretty well and he was happy with it!

We are still having frugal fun this summer. The kids roll their eyes when I chant “free, free, free!” But I know they secretly have fun with it. Jeff and Fieldin picked some FREE blackberries that went into this blackberry/peach pie.

I let out some creative energy by saving these cans from the recycle bin and turning them into flower vases. I just need to add some flowers. Price: Free!

Nummy store. Nummy Free cookies if you ask nicely:)

Put a bird on it.. or so they say in Portland. Put a bird on it and people like it..

I get cards in the mail from a realtor and these cards have FREE things on them. I got this beauty of a zinnia today that is pretty happy on my front porch. Went to the nursery, gave them the card and boom! instant smile on my face ‘cause I got a new plant.

Summer reading program, free Carl’s Jr. kids meals. Total treat since they don’t get these. They regretted it awhile later when their tummy’s hurt. :(

Around Here

It’s been busy around here and a lot of time in the car. I finally realized I was wearing two different colored flip flops everyday. I think it probably started one early morning trying to get one of the kids somewhere and a dark shoe closet...

Sad because I can’t play..

Lil’ man has been drawing a bit more and wanting to do stop motion photography. He’s taking a coding camp this week at the college where he and another camper are creating a clue board game type game but on the computer. Can’t wait to see or hear how it turns out on his last day of coding.

Laminator means...Back to school! I’ve been messing(literally) around my classroom and moved furniture in. Ready to head back this Fall after a wonderful year  Sabbatical.

My once a year feeling to get out the sewing machine which we all know never turns out well. I can’t sew or make coffee and I need to give up on them. The fam almost headed for the hills when they saw fabric..I feel like every year we change something around here to help the environment. We are going paperless in the kitchen. No more paper towels or napkins. So I went to work making paperless towels and going to make a few new tablecloths. I scared the fam saying we were going toilet paperless and read a (hilarious but not supposed to be hilarious) article about how one does that. I met instant revolt and a threat from the eldest child. I don’t know how they took me seriously because I was laughing hysterically.

My newest game addiction. This game makes ya think.. hard. A friend introduced us and the next day Jeff found one at the thrift store for 99 cents. It is so head hurting fun that I almost hit the $14.95 button on Amazon to get it in 2 days. Thanks to Jeff’s daily thrift store walks.. ahem. Mandatory work breaks:) we saved some cash.

Blessed By Music

I am envious of her talents. She has been blessed with the talent of music as most of you know. I am blessed hearing this music in our house everyday. Today she was given her first guitar from a family friend. She picked up a pick and practiced for a couple hours and now she is playing beautiful music. Another instrument that she can play to add to her list.

Summer Means....

Summer means.. having a day full of to do’s but then everything changes and you relax instead
Prepping lots of blueberries for winter

Doing weird Babbitt things like going on a walk but registering our speed instead. By the way, the boys won clocking up to 13 mph, Greta hit 11 mph and I followed the pack at 10 mph

Seeing so many deer on our walk last night, at least 8

Spending the day organizing the LEGO room a bit more and starting to put up shelving.

Frugal Fruit Day

The kids and I are still on our frugal summer challenge. Fieldin wrote up a list of every free coupon we had in the house and car for us to use this summer. The goal is to use them all!

We did or first big blueberry picking of the year. At this farm there are 50 different varieties so we got a big mix.

The kids are busy putting old legos together after many years of them being torn apart:)

On our way home from blueberries there were beautiful FREE apples on the side of the road. Fieldin’s favorites. It was a good lesson for him in not being greedy:) we got some to eat on and some for a bit of applesauce.

I have realized lately, I need to explore more here in Oregon and this was a fun day of seeing new things. For the kids, their adventure cost $8 plus the price of ice cream:)

Greta loves Wall-E and the Beatles so it was a great day.

Weekly Report

Fieldin is doing weekly reports this summer. Chubby Checker was in town tonight putting on a free concert. Fieldin didn’t know who he was so this weeks report is on Chubby Checker and how to do the twist:) Enjoy!

Fun Free Day 2

Another fun free day. Thanks to their passports they each did a free ceramic painted tile today. We get them back next week.

Little man is working on a lego swat team (below)

Today was 7/11 which means free slurpee at 7/11 stores. The kids don’t miss free slurpee day( I think they are gross but they like them) so it is a big treat since it’s not something they usually get to have.

Organizing music.. snare drum, mallets, drum set, piano, ukulele, recorder and accordion.. we got it ALL organized so it is no longer spread out everywhere.

Making bath bombs. No explosions. No weird things growing. I like these kind of projects.
