We started celebrating on the 3rd. We took the kids to a minor league baseball game and stayed the WHOLE game to watch a very cool fireworks show at the end. It was a very late night but the kids(and us) really enjoyed it. Go Knights!
Me and my babes on the morning of the 4th.
At my sweet friend, Hillary's house. We had a nice bbq and Greta said she loved being at her house. I think being able to make fresh ice cream had a little something to do with it :)
So Jeff and I did not let Greta play with a sparkler until she was five.. ahem... I was a little surprised to see this little guy with one..Jeff! This pic is a bit fuzzy but you can still see the absolute joy of playing with fire written all over his face. He would say"happy 4th of July and birthday and Father's day". Greta loved having a "real" fairy wand.
In the evening, we hung around our neighborhood where there were nine kids running around with sparklers and pop its. Happy to report no injuries. There was a battlefield of pop its covering the road. Most of the pop its never went off so if a car or truck drove by all you could hear was"pop, pop, pop,pop..." like gunshots. The kids thought this was hilarious.
Jeff became the official lighter of the evening. My friend Natalie bought some very cool fireworks and we all stayed up way past our bedtimes watching them. Luckily we didn't have far to walk the kids to their beds.
Another fun and memorable 4th of July. I feel very lucky to have spent the whole day with very special people I adore.
