She Insists.....

Greta keeps telling me lately that Fieldin looks like the man on the cereal box(the Quaker Oat Man). It has to be because of all that white hair and rosey cheeks. What do you think?

Pinkies Up

(A special bear tea sandwich for Miss Greta)
Today I took Greta to an Afternoon Tea for some mommy and Greta time. The tea took about 3 hours and Greta did wonderful. She stayed in her seat the whole time and no china was broken. That is pretty impressive for a 4 year old to do, I was even feeling a little restless after the second hour. I knew she was ready for this after her many hours of tea parties at home.
Greta loved this. She was a bit "Breakfast at Tiffany's" today with her pearl necklace and bracelet and updo. What you don't see are her big rain boots she is wearing with "her fancy dress".

Greta was given a tray of sweets and goodies all her own. All very fun and perfect for a 4 year old girl. This picture was taken before she went into a sugar comatose. She asked for the rest of her treats to be boxed up for later.

A picture of us before heading out for our day. It was lovely.

Friday- Pictures Of The Day

A new princess Belle doll after the last Princess Belle lost her head. There were major tears. While I consoled Greta, Fieldin crawled around her saying "uh oh". He presented her with a pink plastic hanger to make her feel better. (He is intrigued by hangers right now...) Greta said "thank you Fieldy, but a hanger won't replace a princess. She is Cinderellas best friend!" sob sob...
I saw this on Fieldins book shelf while changing his diaper. It was a gift from Greta. She was doing a Halloween art project and snuck this little guy into his room.....a little devil. How fitting :)

Because I am intimidated by yeast. I really am. It is unpredictable and touchy. One wrong move and I wave the thought of fresh bread goodbye. I'm trying. These are braided bread loaves with a little cinnamon and Swedish pearl sugar.

Ready for a walk.

This baby likes to whisk. He has a little play whisk that he whisks around in a little basket. He and Greta were making an imaginary Halloween feast. Lucky for him his job was to whisk batter. He was very happy with that and took his job VERY seriously.

Wednesday

I have been waiting for rain. My reasoning is a bit selfish, I just want to wear my rain boots and splash around. It has been dry around here lately.. I woke up to rain this morning. "hmmm, it's raining.." I thought. It was one of those "be careful what you wish for moments". I had plans to spend the morning at the park. It didn't take long to remember rainy days inside can be fun too. the morning was spent watching Greta sew more Halloween puppets, playing chase with Fieldin, teaching Greta to make quesedillas and applesauce, helping Fieldin use his fork and laughing when he put things on his head and said"top hat". It's been a good quiet morning. Thank you rain.

Greta and I are working on a Thanksgiving project that we will do over the next month. She is making a "I am thankful for.." book. Here is her list. I wrote down what she said. I love how she uses words. I thank her love of books. When I was four I am sure I didn't sound like this:

I am thankful For:

elephants
because mommy and daddy love me
ice cream
my lovely home
pens to draw with
my happy self
owls hooting in the night
pumpkins in pumpkin patches
Cinderella, Tinkerbell and my little brother
Gracie because she is my friend.

I love this list. I wasn't aware we had owls at our house but it is nice to be thankful for them:) I am just happy to see that I made the list. It is hard to beat out ice cream.

Indie Girl

Sorry I haven't posted much this week. It's been one of THOSE weeks. You know what I mean. Weeks with craziness, sickness, unexpected plumbing and a dead appliance... yep one of those weeks. Luckily we can take a break from it all and watch a "Greta Performance" She has a bit of indie girl to her. This song is entitled "I shiver and I quiver". My 4 year old rhymes better than I do. I am not ashamed to admit it, actually I am quite proud :) Another joy this week, the babe is really getting chatty. He asks us for apples now. He can say piggy. He says Good-bye and thank you. He repeats our words. He say "honk, honk" in the car. It amazes me how fast babies pick up on language. He is speaking twice as much as he did last week. I'll try to get a video up of him speaking soon. His favorite words are still "up & down" and "uh oh". No surprise that "uh oh" would be used frequently around this house.

The Fly Whisperer

Greta has moved on from catching just butterflies with her fingers and now also catches flies. She has such a zen way of doing it. She tells us" I am Greta the fly catcher". Here is the business card she made for herself. Give her a call if you need her services.... :)
Now that I am finally starting to feel better it was time to get out of the house! We have all been a bit cooped up the last 3 weeks. Today we collected things outside like changing leaves, pine cones and moss. Greta brought her "field journal" as she calls it and drew pictures of her findings. She kept some things to bring home for art projects. It was soo nice to get out and get fresh air again!

here she is wearing her little Autumn tote that we did for crafty day a few weeks back. It works really well and holds more than I ever thought it would.
Happy Wednesday everyone.

This Is What 6 More Months Can Do To A Baby

This will be our last bottle photo since the big boy is one now and ready to move onto cups. Here is a previous post with glimpses of Greta feeding the baby. They BOTH have grown so much.

The Little Pirates' Birthday

A happy pirate. A happy day.

He didn't have any interest in opening toys. LUCKILY he has a big sister that was more than happy to help.

His first tastes of sugar. He obviously likes it. We made pumpkin cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
We still can't believe you are one! Love you Matey.
