An Extra Set Of Eyes

The lil' man now has glasses! He was excited to get them luckily and marked days off on his calendar until he could get them. He picked them out himself and wanted Crimson and Grey like the Cougars. He is being really responsible with them and doing great. He hasn't been wearing them all the time. He doesn't need to wear them to read and he takes them off to play and paint. We kind of leave it up to him to know when he needs them and he is doing great wearing them at the right times.
He told me he thinks he looks more handsome with glasses then without :)

Getting fitted for his new specs.
He wore them out on errands today. He wanted to pick up more books at the library too and read around town. He is still getting used to being able to read signs and items far away that were getting fuzzy. I'm so happy he is happy. And yes Fieldin, you are very handsome.

College Experience

We dropped off Greta at college today...
but then we picked her up 80 minutes later.
She was accepted into a program where she can take classes. Right now she chose one Chemistry class. It's a neat program. The nice thing is there are chaperone's  to keep the kids safe and take them where they need to go so I know she is safe and not lost. Right now we pick her up and drop her off  but that may change in the future. She said having class with a college professor was a little different (I can only imagine when she is used to a fun elementary classroom) but she really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back next week.

Around Here

Around here we have been busy with activities and being under the weather. The weeks are flying.
There are moments like these though that make me so very happy. The kids cooking side by side. They have it down in this picture. While Fieldin pours pancakes on the griddle using his left hand, he holds Greta's pan lid while she flips eggs. Then back to cooking away again.

Lately, we are just trying to catch up on rest, get healthy and wait for sunshine.
and pick on the cat.
Doesn't he look like he is thinking up a mischievous plan??

Around Here

Around here it feels a bit like the calm before the storm as we slowly start the New Year.
As the weekends get busier, I feel thankful for family mornings filled with pancakes and brain teasers.
Rainy days means working out inside, the kids were busy with Just Dance and it is hilarious to watch. :)
Jeff and I had birthdays. The big 4-0 for me and 41 for Jeff. SO happy we celebrate our birthdays together.

And this guy, so full of energy and so very funny these days.
And this girl, never sure what she is going to be up to next. I've gotten used to the kitchen as a part time lab. This day she was mixing the right salt water ratio to grow brine shrimp in a small hatchery which are still on my counter...;/

And it looks like we may have another glass wearing child in the house. We noticed Fieldin isn't seeing far away as well so we took  him to the eye dr. He was fine at the end of September but just like Greta I think his vision will change quickly. He is excited to get glasses and has the day they should be ready for pick up marked on his calendar. He made this extra note for his teacher. I made a note that I needed to pick him up at 3 but he added to it..

New Year's 2016

Our plans changed a bit today since we weren't expecting such cold windy weather.
We decided to stay warm and take the kids up to Portland for the day and then to see the Oregon Garden lights. We had wanted to go before Christmas but the weather didn't cooperate.
Greta playing the big wood xylophone and checking out a big logging tractor at the Forestry center.

I love this.. You can tell where these kids are age wise. Fieldin hamming it up on the raft and Greta looking like she really wants out. A year ago this picture would have been SO different.
Fieldin learning to parachute jump like a fire jumper. It's hard work. His first attempt he was 203 meters away from target and the next time he  was only 57 meters. Very fun.
And he found a car that he could possibly drive. He was pretty excited he could touch the pedals. A little awkward but he could do it. Not sure if he could see over the dash though...
At Oregon gardens. The kids are a little hard to see but I like to take these pics with them in just the holiday light.

Greta warming up by the fire and with the narwhal from the Elf movie.

 I heart Oregon
Fieldin in Santa's house. Luckily he didn't get caught. We told him about the Austrian/German Krampus. Not sure if he will sleep tonight but we had fun with him. If you have never heard of him, google it and you will see why he wanted Chompers to keep watch at his bed :)

New Years Eve

The lil' man woke up early to watch his usual Star Wars movies. He was gearing up for the new Star Wars movie we went to see in the theatre that afternoon.

Our yearly resolutions above. And these three in Star Wars gear ready to head out to the movie. I somehow don't have any Star Wars gear somehow.
 New Year's eve....
 It was loud around here.
 really loud

Then we finally let the kids have their silly string fight in the garage,

Which was really entertaining. Look at the thrilled Fieldin below.

These two lasted until 11 p.m. and watched the NYC ball drop.
