Philadelphia- Historical Fun

I finished up with school last Friday and the next morning we were off to Philadelphia to make some more memories. We loved it there and we were sad to say goodbye. It made it on our list of favorite cities.
Fieldin making "turkey stew" in the Betsy Ross house.
Greta throwing pennies on Ben Franklin's grave. You may not know this but Greta is a BIG fan of Ben Franklin and even did a report on him last Fall for school. All those pennies add up. We were told by a staff member at Christ church they make about $4,000 a year off those pennies. "A penny saved is a penny earned"..well maybe not in this case.
 Learning to look pompous....
Oh no, Greta broke the Liberty Bell!! Greta!!! no wait, it was already like that. Whew....
 Inside Christ Church
When you come up with an idea of a post office you become the first postmaster. I think Ben Franklin would be surprised at the price of a stamp. And we aren't even being taxed by the British, what's up with that?
Elfreth's Alley the oldest inhabited street in the US. It is beautiful and people live in those houses. They must really like tourists.
We had a love, hate relationship with the streets. The majority of them cobblestone and very uneven. I can't imagine the repairs on these!
Independence Hall, the birthplace of the declaration of Independence and the Constitution and very cool, indeed. Fieldin took our picture while we waited for our tour.
The kids can now add Independence Junior Rangers to their pile of badges. They did good work and this one wasn't easy.
There was so much more history, pretty much on every street and trust me we walked almost EVERY street. Cities are for walking and we like to soak it all in when we get a chance.
