Halloween

The kids were sooo excited for today.
Trick or treating starts early in our neighborhood so we were out before dark.
we have such a cool neighborhood. Wonderful people and a nice fun place to trick or treat.
These two kept racing each other.

Pretty much we just need to cover our neighborhood and the kids are loaded up. We went with some friends to some businesses to trick or treat to warm up after school.
He loves handing out candy. Loves it. He gives extra to the really young kids and says "you get three because you are little"..He was a hoot tonight, he is in his Halloween prime at age 6..
While Fieldin handed out candy Greta went through hers. We ran out of candy(8lbs) and the kids donated some of theirs back to the cause.
Handing out candy.. He is probably the only Jedi I have seen wearing Air Jordan Nike's and missing a front tooth.

The kids took an hour to go through their candy and of course the cat did too when he got a chance..
Fieldin said probably no other 6 year old got that many kit kats... he gave me all his peanut m&ms..silly boy and Greta donated them to me too. When they would get them they would yell "m&m's for you mommy!!" not embarrassing at all....
Fieldin's Kindergarten Halloween party..they serpentine through all the classes in their costumes.
I stopped in to Greta's(Luna Lovegood's) class a couple times and she was in true character. She had a fun party too.
Little Jedi on parade. He was excited to go through Greta's class and see her and when she went through his..
A very fun Halloween with two excited kids!

Jack O Lanterns

I just realized that I forgot to post pumpkin carving pics.
Here is Greta carving a Harry Potter pumpkin and Fieldin carved a clone trooper.

The finished pumpkins, this was Fieldin's first year carving his own.

While we carved the cat slept. Things have changed, he used to try to jump in our pumpkins.
Fieldin's clone trooper above, and the grumpy cat I carved for Greta.
 Jeff's yoda.

They turned out well and the kids did a great job carving their own this year!

Halloween Costumes

Enjoying Halloween crafts and getting our costumes together.
This is the cats new hiding place... he's been there most of the day. He doesn't think we know he is there.
Our Jedi. It was trick your trunk at church so we told Fieldin he had to decide what he wanted to be today! He has been deciding between a Jedi and Darth Vader. Good won out it seems.. Now we have to wait and see if he will still be a Jedi on Halloween or switch..
He wasn't really interested in posing for pictures today but I got a couple.
Greta as Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. She does look a bit like her..
I made her skirt and the rest we were able to compile from her closet to make her outfit. Luckily she had a pink jacket and a Hogwarts t-shirt..her wand is a cool stick she found a year ago. The Quibbler she carries we made after printing off pages on line and attaching them to a newspaper. The spectre specs we bought online. We also bought her radish earrings and cork necklace. We were going to try to make them but these were perfect. She had outgrown her converse but she wore her special edition Beatles yellow submarine Vans instead, I thing Luna would have approved.

Here they are after church doing a candy trade... Fieldin gave me a bag of peanut M&M's since he knows they are my favorite:)
Fieldin is now on a countdown to Friday. He has a taste of candy now so can't wait until Halloween.

Lost Front Tooth & Legos

He's been waiting.. and wiggling.. and asking if it is ready to come out every night.
Finally, last night it popped out!! His first missing front tooth.
He finally went to sleep after all the excitement and woke up early to show us what the tooth fairy brought.
Then we all got up to head up to Portland for a Lego event for Fieldin. It was way too early.
Before we left he practiced building a Star Wars ship. He was very excited and enjoyed watching the other kids build and showing them his ship. He was one of  the youngest ones there but he jumped right in without any worries which made me happy.
Working on his ship and then talking about his ship for sharing time.

Baker

We are enjoying schedules slowing down and evenings at home.
We are taking a couple months off of sports and just going to veg, that's something we aren't good at but I think we all need it and it gives us time to enjoy the holidays coming up.
Fieldin's done with soccer and Greta's almost done with volleyball. She started up 4-H in baking and sewing and really enjoys it. She also is a mathlete this year and enjoying math club that just started for the year.
We had early dismissal yesterday and a book report that was almost done so Greta made a pumpkin cake, her first cake, and did a good job. I just kind of watched over her shoulder but she did the work.
We cheated and used pre-made icing(because I am horrible at making it) and she liked icing the cake. She had never done it before and was excited to try.
Here's her finished product.. she made it gluten free so I got to try it too. It was very good.
I don't bake often so I lucked out having two bakers in the family!I like having Jeff and Greta bake and I get to eat it!

Around Here

Time has been flying.
I can't believe Halloween is almost here.
The kids made a Halloween gingerbread house last weekend for a decoration.
I am soaking up Fall and enjoying the change in weather.

The kids have been busy with school and sports and Greta is enjoying more friend time and she lost two molars this week!! only a couple of days apart. It is strange seeing gaps in her mouth once again. Fieldin is a bit put off that she lost two teeth and he is still waiting for his two front teeth to come out. They are close but not ready and he cannot wait for them to come out! I think they will be ready any day now.. and then he will be able to whistle :)
When Fall comes I always start playing with our food :) Like these hotdog mummies and I love making anything pumpkin shaped and of course making pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, nut pie.. you get the picture. Fall foods.. love them.
Fieldin is still loving school and is sad soccer is coming to an end. He says he likes P.E., recess, reading group and doing work at his table. Greta has one week of volleyball left for the Fall. She still loves school and favors math. Math Olympiad group starts soon and she is excited. She also got writer of the week in class and was very proud. I look forward to reading her weekly work, she really enjoys writing as well and still loves her books. Her backpack is like lead this year always full of books from the library or home in case she gets reading time.
Other than that, there is lots of hockey, baseball, volleyball and football watching on TV. Projects are slowly getting done as we switch to more time indoors. Hibernation time has begun :)

Pumpkin Patch For Greta

Jeff, me and Fieldin will have our fill of pumpkin patches soon with field trips but Greta doesn't go anymore at school. We took her today so we could all get our carving pumpkins..
 On the hayride
Fieldin with his pumpkin and Greta with hers..they both already know what they will be carving their pumpkin's into. Greta's pumpkin may win for the heaviest.
 Finding a pumpkin below.

Riding back after we found our pumpkins..
