Photos Of Both Turkey's

The kids hate going to a photo studio to get their pictures taken.
Not even a bribe of ice cream will get them there.
Luckily they do pretty well for me and if they don't, I threaten a trip to a photo studio.
Voila! I think they did well and they didn't even expect a treat after.

I love the happy look on Fieldin's face above.
I took this in color but liked it in black and white.
They are still a foot a part in height. They have been for years.
Both of their hair is darkening these days.
My two little(?) turkey's. I love them so very much.
Just as a reminder here is a photo I took of them last August.
Last year and this year. The only thing that seems the same is that Fieldin is still wearing converse..

Fall Photos Of The Eldest

We are not sure what happened to Greta over the summer but she has changed so much over the last few months.
She will start 4th grade on Tuesday.
She is so responsible for a 9 year old. Sometimes it is hard to believe she won't be ten until April.
They really do grow up and change so fast.

She's not into big smiles anymore. She said she was channeling a Mona Lisa smile..
I'm just happy she didn't mind getting her picture taken by me.

Fall Photos Of The Youngest

Kindergarten for this guy starts the week after next.
He is so fun.
I was so happy to find time to take the kids pictures before school starts. It is a bit of a tradition.
These pictures are so him... His hair is getting darker and his dimples are getting deeper. His two missing teeth are filling in and his laugh is infectious.
One of his favorite dance moves. He loves to dance. He also loves his green flame converse that he found for school. He loooves green.
I love this picture above.. this so fits his personality. I love photographing the kids, they are themselves with me and the camera.
I can't believe he is going to start kindergarten this year....

Drums At A Good Price

Karma is a funny thing. Do good and get some good back.
While dropping off some stuff at the Goodwill the other day we spotted a purple drum setting in the truck ahead of us. Gret was excited. I offered the owner to pay for them but he gave us the set for free and happy it was going home with Gret.
It cleaned up well and Jeff put its parts together. It is perfect size for Fieldin and a little on the small side for Greta but it works fine for now as she gets her movements down and so far she is doing well.
Fieldin likes to sing along and wait his turn to bang on them.

When it's Fieldin's turn I feel very bad for the neighbors.

School Time

We've had a wonderful summer.
But all things come to an end.
We just had a visit from my sister, it's time for me to go back to work and Fieldin has started Fall soccer. Greta starts volleyball soon. Summer is over.
For now we are preparing school supplies for drop off this week.
Fieldin was very excited because it's his first year getting supplies ready!
The cat used to always nap on Gret's backpack after she got home from school last year. She decided to keep the same backpack this year and just pulled it out and this made the cats day. His favorite nap spot has returned.
Writing his name on his supplies with a Sharpie.
He picked out a R2D2 backpack that makes noises..
This girl is in heaven she wanted to buy school supplies right after school was out, we waited awhile but bought them early(she was afraid they would be sold out in July) She was very happy to get them all out and ready.

Kayaking At Twilight

We spent a day at the beach with my dad yesterday. We had a twilight ranger lead kayak tour scheduled. We had a fun day at the coast and then got ready for our tour.
The kids did some bird watching while we waited for the rest of the group. Fieldin was excited to have binoculars.
The kids were given the job of getting out and counting the right number of oars.
Dad and Greta and the four of us below trying out our kayaks and getting them ready.
We were given lots of equipment which Greta loved. Headlamps, whistle and binoculars.

Getting ready and getting used to the oars.
Greta took the pictures below while we were out kayaking. It was absolutely beautiful.

We saw wildlife and every once in awhile the group would log up for a lesson on wildlife or plants and also a few jokes.
The kids were not afraid to answer questions. Greta really liked the lesson part.
The tour was supposed to be about 1 1/2 hours and ended up being three. It was very fun and quite an adventure for us novices. We were kayaking back at night with our headlamps on trying to avoid logs. I tried to ignore the bats. It was a fun family adventure with lots of good stories for us to remember and tell for many years. A family that survives kayaking in pitch dark together, stays together:)
A very fun day.. so proud of us all!

Pie #6: Green Tomato Pie

We weren't sure what this pie was going to taste like...
To our surprise it was a mock apple pie.. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this one and an apple.
luckily the farm we go to had green tomatoes this weekend. The worst part was peeling.
once they were cut up then they were cooked down with butter and spices.

The finished product below. Jeff and I loved this pie. Fieldin didn't like the texture and Greta only liked the tomato chunks with spices. We were surprised that it turned out to be a sweet pie.

Jeff's Fish

Jeff had a long day fishing yesterday and it was a slow day but luckily he came home with a fish. Greta took these pictures last night when he got home.

Volleyball

Last week Greta had another volleyball camp. This is her on crazy hair day which she won a prize for. I was happy for her because I'm not so good with crazy hair, that usually means hairspray and things I know nothing about. It was a very tiring few days for her but you could see the girls skill levels changing before your eyes which was very cool. We had an exhausted Greta with red sore arms for awhile but she had a very good time.
Last week was busy and the kids are still in swim lessons twice a week. The days are full and flying by.
Yesterday we did alot of rearranging and cleaning around the house. I'm getting things ready for when I go back to work in a few weeks :(
