Picking Super Food Photographed By Greta

Our freezer is full. No more room for berries.
Today was blueberry picking day and was also the last day for u-pick blackberries so we headed to pick some of those too.
Greta documented our trip.
One hand full of berries and one empty to shove them in his mouth :)
one of the kids buckets. Fieldy is always guilty of taking berries from our buckets and filling his...
Happy Chunk and a bright sun. It was 90 degrees while picking today.
Blackberry hands. He was covered yet none of his berries made it into our bins. He had just dumped a water bottle over his head when this was taken.
you can see Gret taking the photo in Jeffs sunglasses

 a self portrait.
and catching lil man in stealing blueberries mode. He is going to have such a tummy ache.
Wonderful job Greta. What great photos!

Now, It's Basketball Time For The Youngest

Little man is busy with basketball this week. So far he likes the running part(of course) and jump stops and shooting. He also likes to pass. He played basketball three months ago and seems to like this camp. I think he likes t-ball and soccer better. To him, nothing beats track. His face lights up when he gets to race.
shooting and dribbling drills. Gret's been coming along to cheer him on(she is so proud .."Run Chunk Run! and Nice Shot buddy!) and she reads Harry Potter. She likes to give me chapter updates and quotes the book for me. I am glad she enjoys watching him. He wasn't as good about watching her last week at her camp. He wanted to go run with her. :)

Photo Dump

The weather was better a month ago.
But, it does still feel like summer. It feels lazy yet a little busy. I love that feeling.
We have been busy picking raspberries and blackberries(blueberries this week) and freezing/drying them for winter. Basketballs are being dribbled, bike tires moving, old toys being scattered and rediscovered, book pages being read, video games being conquered, laundry being piled for later, visits to the farm and library are a constant, pages being drawn on and a neighbor moving away that will be very missed.
yes..I know. aghhh!! Jeff took this while Fieldin and I were at a birthday party. You can imagine I was freaked when doing the photo dump. She loves snakes and we have plenty. I actually don't mind them as much as I used to.  Still a little freaked though and I've seen her holding a python before...
This is where he sits to watch the children, movies or birds.
It is the summer of Harry Potter around here. Greta drew this. Harry is holding his scar from Voldemort and saying "owww". There is alot of stick wand waving as the kids shout out spells. Greta is pretty sure she saw the shovel move when casting a spell...lots of talk of attending Hogwarts School.... Fairytales are so cool.
When the cat is tired of us he sleeps here on top of the kitchen cabinets....
 Dancing and music everyday.
We are now decorated inside and out for the 4th of July.
Some of Greta's painted rocks. One is a Wookie from Star Wars the other was supposed to be Harry Potter but she says it looks more like an ancient man...
We are actually getting alot of raspberries off our plants in the back. We head to the farm for most but Greta enjoys seeing what is waiting for us each day in the backyard.

Basketball For The Oldest

As I mentioned below in the last post, each kiddo had camp this week. Greta had basketball camp. It is such a great positive camp. The woman's basketball players are such great role models.
 Greta shooting at warm ups.
Yesterday, Greta was Beaver of the Day for her team. I was proud of her but she informed me.. "it's no big deal.." :)
Shooting drills. Grets first in line in the braids.
Her scrimmage coach. She is a player and so good with the girls. Greta adored her because she was nice and from WA.
Getting her shirt and ball signed.. here with the head coach
and her other favorite player. This girl can shoot and she is from our old neck of the woods in WA.. Greta thought that was neat.
While I was taking this shot I was thinking..will Greta be this tall? She is from the H.S. Greta will go to.. once again Greta thought that was awesome.
Her second year at this camp.. very fun. She learned alot.

T-Ball For The Youngest

Both kids were in camp this week. Lots of time in the car and coffee refueling for me! Well worth the early mornings and shuttling.
Fieldin loves baseball. He loves going out in our backyard and hitting balls and catching. He isn't old enough yet to play "official" t-ball but we found a camp for him to play in this week. He is sooo ready to play ball.
His theme song this summer(I had to download it for him off itunes) has a chorus that goes "light em' up, up up..I'm on FIRE!!" he likes to yell this part...
 love him.
He is on the right(see the bright white hair) throwing.. if you look close you can see the ball mid air
 batting.

working on grounders. He likes this.
Getting a grounder than throwing.. I took a pic of the ball mid air again.. must be all that caffeine. Fast fingers.
 His favorite thing. Running bases.
Today was rained out.. such is life in Oregon. They moved in the gym. Here he is playing third base.

It's Tough Being Our Cat

You all know we love our cat. You all know he is a bit quirky.
Here are some pics over the last week. It is pretty fun to see where or what he is doing next.
 Napping with my driftwood project.
Using Fieldin's doctor bag as a pillow
Getting into the pantry. He likes to use the kids snacks as fetch toys.
Taking a nap in the window sill  under the hummingbird feeder
Watching birds out the screen door
Taking a nap with Fieldin's stuffed bulldog. Fieldin named his bulldog "bulldog easter egg bumble bee"
Napping after more bird watching.

Happy Father's Day!

A low key Father's Day around here. We have all been very tired.
The kids made Jeff some cute Mad Lib type cards and then whale pancakes for breakfast.
Then one of our favorite hikes.

The kids were trying to count the rings on some fallen trees to see how old they were. I would get to 45 rings before I gave up.
A quiet day which was nice. The kids got caught up on some rest. It was a nice day to celebrate Jeff!

Looks Like Summer

Only a week into summer break. Last week the kids were getting used to not having a schedule and felt a bit lost but now they are getting into the swing of things. Morning board games and picking fruit in the backyard in their pjs.

They like to play in the yard and come up with things to play inside. Here Fieldin is pretending to be a cat with a pipecleaner tail.

dehydrating, canning and freezing has started...
and lots of play at the park...
