I have had two "in- progress" advent calendars waiting for a bit of my attention for the past 4 years. I hand sewed these electrical lights that I saw on a blog after Fieldin was born. Then they were put in a ziploc bag and never finished. This year I found them and sewed on silver ribbon(the closest I could find that looked like wire) and stamped on numbers. I originally was going to cover numbers with glitter but I liked the simple look of this better. The kids slip off the grey (light screw??what is that called?) to get to their candy which this year is chocolate coins of the world.
Each day they search on the little advent tree for their daily treat. Luckily, for the kids, these felt lights won't burn hands like the old school ones that used to amplify our rooftops on Christmas a loooong time ago when I was young. Those babies were so hot you could probably fry an egg on them. I wonder how many bugs/birds got a jolt? Lights aren't made like they used to be, young whippersnappers.
As for the other advent calendar of knitted little hats and mittens, it will have to wait a bit longer(I have 10 left). I do love homemade advent calendars.
