State Fair

In the end Greta had two items qualify for the state fair which she was pretty happy about since this was her first year in 4-H.
The skirt she made ended up getting a blue ribbon. Her skirt has dictionary definitions on it and she plans to wear it to her battle of the books matches next year.

Her muffins got a third place ribbon. She was afraid they may have been too dry by the time a judge got to them. :) I told her they are still grand champions in her county and she should be proud regardless.
She had a good first year in 4-H and wants to continue next year and may join a photography club as well as stay in her current sewing/cooking club. It was a learning year for all of us since Jeff and I knew nothing about 4-H and somewhere during the year I became an assistant leader, not sure how that happened. All in all a fun year with 4-H.

Around here we only have about a week til school starts so we are all lazy. Greta has thrown herself into lots of art projects and play time.
The kids made Chewbacca Star Wars bookmarks......
and lots of games...
Not many days left of summer!

Welcome Lazy Days

We are winding down and getting ready for school to start in a couple weeks.
We are finally having some lazy days around the house, playdates, swim lessons and getting all their "stuff" for school. I am getting ready to head back to work, it will be my 3rd year at the preschool. It has gone by so fast.

The kids really enjoy archery and luckily we have a place for them to practice not far from our house.
We are spending more time in the backyard and found our first big praying mantis of the year which is always named, Buddy.
Greta finished a Star Wars blanket for Fieldin made out of Jeff's old vintage sheet. Fieldin loves it(and the cat too) He loves getting cozy at night with his new blanket.

we haven't had time for much yard work this summer but as I was cutting back some plants and found a bunch of snail shells and this shell that is still forming.
spending time walking and hiking. You know you are on a long hike when you have to pull out a map. The kids did a 7 mile hike in a little over 2 hours. Pretty good!

lazy evenings, taking walks, watching a movie or the kids favorites....family lego nights. We have been working through the Scooby Doo Lego sets. Everyone takes a turn and we build together.
Kind of getting used to the laziness right before the craziness starts.

She Is Off To The State Fair

A little over a week ago, Greta had her County fair judging day. She woke up early and got her muffins baked and I had to taste them and I think they were the best batch she had made.
waiting for her Gluten Free Strawberry Rhubarb muffins to be judged and for her to be interviewed.
and then waiting for her skirt and fleece pillow to be judged.
and she came home with 3 blue ribbons and was very happy.
Even though it was 104 degrees we braved the heat to see her items on display at the fair.
and her muffins had another ribbon, which we thought was very pretty. We later found out that pretty ribbon means she qualified for the state fair in Salem so she will be making them once again. She was extremely excited about this!!
We saw a few animals and headed home because it was way too hot. Very proud of our girl and Good Luck At the State Fair!!

Around Here

Fieldin finished up his UK soccer camp on Friday. He learned a lot of new skills and had fun.

We are finally slowing down and doing lazy summer things.
We finally made it to a baseball game!!

and a little time at the beach and aquarium.
