Around Here

Around here we are decompressing and trying to rest up.
Fieldin's newest lego creation. It didn't take too long for him to build this and I am pretty sure I couldn't do it.
Fieldin got battleship for his birthday and the kids really enjoy it. Another great game to add to the game cabinet.
Fieldin helped decorate the front porch for Halloween this year.
and we brought the bats back to swarm the porch
It has been so warm here this October so we have had alot of opportunity to be outside and hike.
This kitty has been into lots of mischief and grumpy with how busy it has been. He doesn't like change or different schedules..
We are starting to work on our Halloween costumes lately...

We had a much needed girl's night at the ballet. Here's Gret with one of the wicked stepsisters from Cinderella. It was a very fun ballet.
We are still getting our schedules down and waiting for cooler weather. We are used to a little indoor hibernation by now. I know, be careful what you wish for.. I know the rain is coming.

Pumpkin Patch For The Youngest

Jeff was super dad once again and went on another field trip.
This time it was with Fieldin on his kindergarten pumpkin patch field trip since I was volunteering.
I owe him one. It was SO hot that day. It was more like a pumpkin roast.
 Fieldin on the hay ride
playing a game and with his class mates in the corn bin..

It is times like this that it is good Jeff is there and not me. I would have been covering him with purell :)
He had a great time and was excited about his first kindergarten fieldtrip and his first time on a school bus.

Happy Birthday Fieldin!

It was a long time coming! He's been waiting and waiting..
I can't get enough of these sweet little pure joy grins he has lately(above). I love them.
A picture right after he turned six at 7:37 a.m.
We let him open the gift from grandpa Chuck before school.
He had a birthday celebration at Kindergarten. We brought in the cookies he requested. Shortbread decorated like a baseball with a 6 in the middle. He doesn't really like being the center of attention.

Reading a card and opening his gifts.. he is so happy

He was very excited when he got the lego set he has been wanting for a long time. He told us later that birthday wishes really do come true.
Already done with the lego ship from Grandpa Chuck right after school.
At his pre-k birthday celebration. The yoda pizza even looked more like yoda after it was baked.
A great sixth birthday for our sweet, sweet boy.
He is so happy, excited and thankful.

A Party For The Youngest

Wow, six years do fly by.
Today we celebrated Fieldin's birthday a day early with some of his friends after school.
He was very excited about this party.
As usual, I like to make the decorations and invites for the kids. Jeff made an awesome R2D2 spoon holder out of legos.
 Fieldin loves clone troopers.

He wanted a Star Wars sundae party
We had fun making darth vader, clone trooper and R2D2 chocolates. And I will take advantage of any reason to draw Star Wars characters.
And back by popular demand, the return of the pool noodle light sabers. The ones from last year are still being used.
whacking storm trooper balloons with their light sabers.
and a couple games of don't drop the clone trooper (He loved this)
 our happy little Jedi..
we had a lego clone trooper holding his candle and it worked. He was very excited to make his wish.
making his wish.. which we all knew was for a certain lego set he talks about daily...

He did a good job reading his cards out loud to everyone.
and enjoyed ripping the paper even more..
his friends had fun burying him with wrapping paper
and giving him lots of hugs ...(which he secretly loved)
 and flowers..
 It was a great afternoon.
Tomorrow we celebrate his REAL birthday with two school parties. Jeff and I made the yoda pizza below for his pre-k birthday treat tomorrow morning. He is so,so excited to be 6 years old tomorrow! He said tonight he feels older and taller..:)

Oregon Trail

Greta absolutely loves learning about the Oregon Trail.
She has been so excited about it since school started.
(Which I'm happy about, it's one of the reasons I wanted to move back to this area.)
Today her grade went on a mock Oregon Trail adventure walking 3 miles, pulling a wagon with goods. They learned along the way and each had to eat a can of pork and beans, meat stick, apple and a roll for lunch.
Greta of course liked the pork and beans.
Pretty sure she will eat anything.
Jeff volunteered since I was at work and spoke to the kids about Fort Laramie and walked with them on their route.

 Eating the pork and beans
still eating her pork and beans :)
With her Oregon Trail family. They were all given their part of the family. She was the daughter. If you notice, she is eating an apple. Always hungry.. the Oregon Trail would have been tough for her :)
